PURPOSE: The study aims to compare the impact of non-mechanical excimer laser-assisted (EXCIMER) and femtosecond laser-assisted (FEMTO) trephinations on graft endothelial cell density (ECD) and graft thickness before and after suture removal following penetrating keratoplasty (PK).
METHODS: The inclusion criteria for this prospective, randomized, clinical study were as follows: (1) surgeries performed by one surgeon; (2) primary central PK; (3) keratoconus (KC) or Fuchs' dystrophy (FUCHS); (4) no previous intraocular surgery; (5) graft oversize, 0.1 mm; and (6) 16-bite double-running suture.

BACKGROUND: Managing high thrombotic burden in the context of myocardial infarction remains a challenging scenario.
CASE SUMMARY: A 51-year-old male was admitted for a subacute inferior myocardial infarction with persistent chest pain. Emergent coronary angiography showed an ostial-proximal thrombotic occlusion of a large ectatic right coronary artery. Several balloon inflations were performed that were not able to improve distal TIMI flow beyond II. With the intent of vaporizing the remaining thrombus, Excimer Laser Coronary Angioplasty was performed with a favourable outcome.

Prurigo nodularis (PN) is an eruption of lichenified or excoriated nodules related to intractable pruritus. A few reports have shown that a 308-nm excimer lamp/laser (EL) is effective for intractable PN. Herein, we report on two cases of intractable prurigo nodularis successfully treated with a new EL equipped with a filter to cut wavelengths shorter than 297 nm. Because this newly developed EL yields a therapeutic effect with low cumulative dosages of UV and a lower risk of DNA damage, it can be a new treatment option for intractable PN.

BACKGROUND: Thrombus is highly prevalent in patients with recent symptoms (< 6 months) of claudication or limb ischemia due to an occluded culprit lower extremity vessels. Treatment of these thrombotic occlusions is challenging.
