OBJECTIVE: Male breast cancer is a rare disease and axillary status is the most important prognostic indicator. As congenital lymphatic malformations, lymphangiomas commonly occur in the neck, tongue, and extremities, whereas scrotum is one of the least frequent sites. For this lymphatic flow disease, lymphoscintigraphy is regarded as a useful imaging method. Herein, in a child with scrotal cysts, scrotal region activity was detected in lymphoscintigraphy, consistent with likely lymphatic disorder. The postsurgical pathology confirmed the diagnosis of lymphangioma.

Axillary lymphoscintigraphy using 99Tcm antimony sulphide colloid has been carried out in 29 patients with suspected breast cancer and was correlated with histology. Of the 23 with proved tumour, axillary node metastases were found in 19 and, although 10 did have diminished uptake on the side of the lesion, 5 had an equal uptake in both sides and 4 had an increased uptake on the side of the lesion. METHODS: Lymphoscintigraphy with 99mTc-antimony sulphide colloid was performed on patients with cutaneous melanoma of the back to define draining node fields and sentinel nodes before surgery.
RESULTS: One patient was found to have drainage from the back to sentinel lymph nodes in the triangular intermuscular spaces bilaterally, above and lateral to the scapula. BACKGROUND: The impact of lymphatic drainage to popliteal sentinel lymph nodes (SLNs) has yet to be explored in detail.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: We performed lymphoscintigraphy on 663 patients with cutaneous melanomas. The following day sentinel lymphonodectomy was performed. SLNs were studied on serial sections with both histology and immunohistochemistry.

Malignant melanoma of the skin has become a real problem due to the increasing number of cases. No other tumor is induced by long term UV-radiation of the skin. Excision of the primary tumor is the treatment of choice in this disease. Before excision of the tumor lymphoscintigraphy is the first choice in diagnosis to demonstrate the draining lymph vessels and lymph node groups of an malignant melanoma for later operation. This case highlights the use of lymphoscintigraphy with SPECT/CT in patients with previous chest and/or axillary surgery. A 67-year-old woman with a history of left breast carcinoma treated with lumpectomy and radiotherapy, and a second lumpectomy of the ipsilateral breast for a second breast carcinoma, underwent a lymphoscintigraphy for a new left breast lesion. Planar images visualized an alternative lymphatic drainage to the contralateral axilla and to the left paravertebral area. SPECT/CT confirmed sentinel nodes in both stations.
