Adult granulosa cell tumor (GCT) is an uncommon sex cord-stromal neoplasm of the ovary. It typically demonstrates locoregional spread, and disease outside of the pelvis as metastasis is uncommon. Only a rare case of primary thoracic adult GCT has been documented, and here we describe another occurrence with unusual pulmonary presentation, thereby expanding the anatomic distribution across which adult GCT could potentially arise.

Gastroblastoma is a newly defined neoplasm of children and young adults with only 4 reported cases to date. Morphologically, the tumor is a mixture of epithelial structures and stromal elements with minimal cytologic atypia. In these 4 reported cases, there were no metastases or postresection recurrences. We report a case of gastroblastoma in a 28-year-old man with a histologic nodal metastasis and clinical distant metastases.

Eleven cases of alimentary lymphoma affecting the ileum were observed among 26 cases of swine lymphoma detected by meat inspection in Kochi, Japan. The ileal lymphomas were located in the Peyer's patches, along with early involvement of regional lymph nodes, and showed a characteristic pattern of follicular invasion leading to diffuse growth. Following the National Cancer Institute Working Formulation, 10 neoplasms were classified as diffuse, large, noncleaved cell lymphomas and one neoplasm was a diffuse, mixed, small to large cell lymphoma. Both types of lymphoma featured numerous intermingl

Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy is used to provide enteral nutritional support for patients with obstructive oropharyngeal or esophageal neoplasms. The placement of the catheter is considered safe, with few complications. Despite this, a specific complication that is considered rare, has been increasingly described in the literature, i.e., metastasis of head and neck cancer in the gastrostomy stoma. In this report, we described a case of metastasis of squamous cell carcinoma of the larynx in the gastrostomy site, and discussed the possible etiologies and alternatives, seeking to reduce the

Phyllodes tumors are rare fibroepithelial neoplasms of the breast; classified as benign, borderline, or malignant based on the mitotic activity, cellular atypia, and stromal overgrowth. Wide surgical excision is the treatment of choice. The most common locations for metastasis are lung, bone, and liver; small intestinal metastasis is extremely rare. Here we present the first patient with jejunal metastases and intussusception due to malignant phyllodes tumor of the breast. Adjuvant treatment of malignant phyllodes tumor needs to be investigated.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: The differentiation between dural-based metastasis and meningioma, which is the most common benign extra axial tumor, is crucial, particularly when staging patients with known primary neoplasms. The purpose of this study was to assess CT and MR imaging features and to validate a proposed imaging scoring system to differentiate between the two pathologies.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 84 patients with pathologically proven meningioma and 31 dural-based metastases were included in this retrospective study. The CT and MR imaging features, including the mean apparent

We report a case of metastatic mesothelioma presenting as an oral metastasis in a 46-year-old patient. The patient presented with 2 polypoid lesions that appeared to be benign on the dorsum of the tongue. Excisional biopsy showed the presence of metastatic carcinoma that on further investigation proved to be mesothelioma. The initial presentation of mesothelioma as an oral metastasis is not previously reported. This article highlights the importance of biopsy and histopathological diagnosis in presumed benign lesions and the role of the general dental practitioner in screening for oral neoplas

Intracholecystic papillary neoplasm (ICPN) is a non-invasive epithelial tumor that presents as a grossly identifiable mass arising in the mucosa and protruding into the lumen. ICPN is associated with invasive carcinoma. There are few studies on the clinicopathological features of ICPN, including that with invasive carcinoma. We evaluated the clinicopathological characteristics of 42 ICPNs and 41 conventional gallbladder adenocarcinomas (cGBAs). Subserosa or deeper (≥ss) invasion was significantly lower in ICPN (61.9%) than that in cGBA (90.2%) (P = 0.004). Cox regression analysis revealed that

Sinonasal teratocarcinosarcoma (SNTCS) is a rare and aggressive neoplasm characterized by the combination of malignant teratoma and carcinosarcoma. Sinonasal teratocarcinosarcoma usually is found mainly among adults, and the common original sites of SNTCS were nasal cavities and paranasal sinuses. There are fewer than 50 reported SNTCS cases in the literature. The most common cause of treatment failure is local recurrence. Distant metastasis of SNTCS is seldom described because of the invasive character of the cancer. We report on a 52-year-old man with SNTCS involving the left sinonasal cavit

BACKGROUND: Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) occurs not only as a neoplasm of salivary glands but also in the skin. Metastasis is rare, and metastasis to lymph nodes has not been reported in the English literature. Case Report A patient with a history of excisions of "cylindroma" of the scalp over the past 20 years was initially seen with 2 recurrent scalp nodules and a firm left neck mass. Both scalp lesions and multiple neck nodes were found to be ACC at resection. The patient underwent postoperative radiation therapy and is clinically free of disease at 4 years.
CONCLUSIONS: We believe this

Signet-ring cell (histocytoid) carcinoma is a rare and aggressive skin neoplasm that most commonly affects elderly men. It typically originates from the upper or lower eyelid, with bilateral involvement only in rare cases, and results in a diffuse and infiltrative appearance clinically, radiologically, and histologically (the "monocle" sign). It is essential to carry out a full investigation to rule out metastasis from an internal origin.

A case of leiomyoblastoma in the small intestine is illustrated. The patient underwent first and iliac resection and then, 36 months later, a removal of multiple hepatic metastasis. The authors recall as the benign appearance of a leiomyoblastoma sometimes in only apparent, so that it's quite difficult predicting its evolution. Not any histological method can give express an available valuation about the neoplasm malignant potency.

PurposeMetastatic pituitary neuroendocrine tumors (PitNET) are exceedingly rare tumors that are typically diagnosed at the time of metastasis. Given the rarity of metastatic PitNET tumors, the pattern of metastasis and imaging appearance of CNS and extra neural metastasis is under reported and poorly understood.MethodsIn this retrospective case series, we present 14 consecutive patients with pathology-confirmed metastatic PitNET tumors. We assess imaging features of primary pituitary disease at the time of diagnosis, temporal evolution of local disease, and distant metastasis on multimodality

Cholangiocarcinoma is a low-frequency neoplasm of onset with a poor prognosis. Peritoneal carcinomatosis is the most frequent site of metastasis with a standard palliative chemotherapy treatment. In the present article, we describe the case of a 35-year-old woman with peritoneal carcinomatosis secondary to an intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma who was treated with cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) as a non-standard therapeutic method. The patient has disease-free survival of 12 months with very good quality of life. The treatment of peritoneal metas

Adenoid cystic carcinoma is an uncommon malignant neoplasm of the salivary gland. Liver metastasis from salivary gland cancer is a rare situation. In this article, we report the case of a 29-year-old woman treated 5 years previously for adenoid cystic carcinoma of the parotid gland by surgery and radiotherapy, who presented for a large hypervascularized hepatic metastasis of 20 cm. After 3-cycle chemotherapy stability, hepatic surgery was successfully performed. The patient maintained disease-free period of 12 months after the surgical treatment. This rare case represents a therapeutic challen

Myocardial metastasis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is rarely reported in the literature. Some autopsy studies found metastases in more than 10% of cases with malignant neoplasm. However, patients are often diagnosed during the postmortem because myocardial metastasis is often asymptomatic, and its Cardiac complications tend to be severe and fatal. Patients with Cardiac metastases are often treated with chemotherapy or surgical intervention, although the prognosis is poor. Immunotherapy with anti-programmed cell death receptor-1 or ligand-1 (PD-1 or PD-L1) inhibitors has recently been repo

A 79-year-old man visited a hospital for right upper abdominal pain and nausea. After conservative treatment for cholangitis and pancreatitis owing to a pancreatic head lesion, he was referred to our hospital for further evaluation and treatment of the lesion. He was diagnosed with pancreatic head cancer or carcinoma of papilla of Vater and underwent subtotal stomach- preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy. Postoperative histopathological examination revealed the coexistence of adenocarcinoma( 60%)and neuroendocrine carcinoma(40%)components, consistent with the diagnosis of mixed neuroendocrine- n

BACKGROUND: Myxopapillary ependimoma (MPE) is a benign slow-growing tumor, and it has been designated histologically as a Grade I neoplasm according to the 2016 World Health Organization classification. Despite the benign character, dissemination and metastasis have occasionally been reported. The retrograde dissemination to other levels of the neuraxis is extremely rare, being more frequent to the intracranial compartment.
CASE DESCRIPTION: We hereby present a case of medullary metastasis of cauda equina MPE, with a history of having undergone a subtotal resection and postoperative adjuvant

The purpose of this article is to describe a patient with presumed choroidal metastasis from an eccrine adenocarcinoma of the scalp. A 45-year-old Caucasian woman presented with decreased visual acuity. Ophthalmologic examination was unremarkable. Her past medical history was significant for eccrine carcinoma of the scalp. The patient developed bilateral cervical lymph node metastases, and received chemotherapy and radiotherapy. She had recurrence of the scalp lesion and developed bone metastasis. The patient was again referred to an ophthalmologist owing to reduced visual acuity. Multiple cho

A 5-y-old, male degu (Octodon degus) was presented with a subcutaneous mass in the ventral aspect of the cervical area. The mass was removed surgically. Histologically, the mass was a densely cellular, expansile neoplasm, with compression of thymic tissue to the periphery. The neoplasm consisted of solid sheets of polygonal cells, mixed with fewer small lymphocytes. Rare Hassall bodies were scattered throughout the mass. Polygonal cells were positive for anti-keratin/cytokeratin AE1/AE3 antibody, and small lymphocytes were positive for anti-CD3 antibody. The histopathologic and immunohistochem
