Effect of phosphatidylcholine (PC) and phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) on oxidation stability of stripped peanut oil (SPO) and bulk peanut oil (BPO) was investigated by EPR. Impact of commercial lecithin and cephalin on BPO oxidation was also studied. PC < 1000 ppm could not affect SPO oxidation but obviously accelerated oxidation above 1000 ppm. PE acted as antioxidant below 250 ppm, had no effect at 500 and 1000 ppm but behaved prooxidative properties above 2500 ppm. BACKGROUND: The study was conducted to compare and evaluate the disinfecting efficacy of four different herbal oils with standard autoclaving against Enterococcus faecalis (E. faecalis). Fifty round burs were infected with E. faecalis and dipped into the chemical test solution for 10 min. The disinfecting efficacy for each test chemical was checked using culture method on blood agar plate and peptone water test to check for turbidity. Olive oil consumption increases HDL-cholesterol levels, while decreasing LDL-cholesterol levels, LDL susceptibility to oxidation and lipid peroxidation. The reduction of cellular oxidative stress, thrombogenicity and the formation of atheroma plague can explain the preventive effects of olive oil on atherosclerosis development. In addition to reducing risk factors for coronary heart disease, olive oil might also help prevent certain types of cancers, and beneficially modify immune and inflammatory responses.

BACKGROUND: A patient with intraocular silicone oildeposits underwent paracentral corneal incision but the corneal sutures were never removed and 7 years later a perforating corneal transplantation was performed due to corneal opacification.
