The presence of diplopia is an undesirable result following strabismus surgery. There are a variety of scenarios where diplopia exists prior to strabismus surgery, and, after surgery, has either been alleviated or decreased to a magnitude amenable to prism correction. In other cases, the patient does not experience diplopia prior to the strabismus surgery, but there exists a definite risk of diplopia after the surgery. In the current review, I examine the literature to help determine the incidence of diplopia after strabismus surgery.

PURPOSE: Severe paretic and restrictive strabismus presents a challenging surgical problem. Despite aggressive, and often multiple, surgical attempts, patients can have recurrence of large angle binocular misalignments. Transcaruncular medial orbitotomy is a tissue preserving, time sparing and cosmetically acceptable approach, which is appropriate for treatment of various pathological conditions, as fractures of the medial orbital wall, inflammatory expansions and tumours of adjacent part of the orbit, but also the orbital endokrinopathy and correction of the medial palpebral ligament. Surgical technique and authors' first experience with this approach in female with orbital haemangioma is presented.

Blepharochalasis is a rare eyelid disorder that often presents in childhood or early adolescence.
