Epidemiological dental study of 724 pre-school children in Tver region revealed high prevalence of dentition defects due to premature removal of temporary molars. Orthodontists are often concerned about the prognosis of root-filled teeth, particularly when extractions are required for orthodontic treatment. This review provides guidance on assessing the quality of root fillings, as well as the factors which affect the prognosis of root-filled teeth. The implications of previous traumatic injuries and the likelihood of root resorption during orthodontic tooth movement are discussed.

Orthodontic treatment alone, or combined with maxillo-facial surgery, can benefit from a kinesthetic therapy approach. This method of functional management, set in place as soon as the orthodontic diagnosis is made, will allow for a comprehensive therapeutic approach to patients, marked by a dialogue, between the different players involved in treatment, orthodontists and maxillofacial surgeons who intelligently work in concert.

The principal characteristics of numerical anomalies of the teeth are described: the occurrence, the incidence, the nomenclature. With healing such anomalies the cooperation of the oral surgeon, the prosthetic and the orthodontist is important. Methods of orthodontical, oral, surgical, and prosthetical treatment are described. Possibility of prevention, its significance and the necessity of examining such anomalies are mentioned.

BACKGROUND: Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) is a psychiatric disorder with delusions about defects in appearance for which patients seek various treatments. Patients with BDD often seek cosmetic procedures, and orthodontic treatment is one among them. This is the first Indian study to determine the prevalence of BDD in an orthodontic outpatient department.
MATERIALS AND METHOD: A total of 1184 patients with varying degrees of malocclusion completed the BDD-YBOCS questionnaire, while an experienced orthodontist assessed the severity of malocclusion with a rating scale.

Prevention of impaction depends in many cases on the knowledge of variations in eruption sequences. However, in case of impaction, spontaneous eruption can be stimulated by exposing the tooth with the modified window-technique.
