OBJECTIVE: To study and make a salt prevent lead poisoning.
METHODS: SD rats were given 0.25% lead acetate by food intake and were given 10 mg.kg-1.d-1, 20 mg.kg-1.d-1 and 30 mg.kg-1.d-1 potassium iodide from drinking water in respective groups, in order to look for the dose of KI which prevents lead poisoning. INTRODUCTION: Potassium-competitive acid blockers (P-CABs) have been empirically administered to treat non-esophageal eosinophilic gastrointestinal diseases, although their efficacy remains unproven. Our previous findings demonstrated that psychological stress impairs the intestinal barrier and exacerbates eosinophilic enteritis (EoN) in a mouse model. Moreover, we demonstrated that P-CAB increased intestinal permeability under psychological stress. The aim of this study was to clarify the hypothesis that P-CAB exacerbate EoN by increasing intestinal permeability under stressful conditions.

The production of reactive oxygen species on addition of hexavalent chromium (potassium dichromate, K2Cr2O7) to lung cells in culture was studied using flow cytometer analysis. A Coulter Epics Profile II flow cytometer was used to detect the formation of reactive oxygen species after K2Cr2O7 was added to A549 cells grown to confluence. The influence of deoxycorticosterone acetate (DOCA) on the sodium content of the red blood cell was determined in the pig. DOCA (100 mg/kg), impregnated in Silastic, was implanted subcutaneously (s.c.) in six male pigs; seven additional pigs received Silastic implants without the DOCA. BACKGROUND: Although intestinal Cl secretion is largely regulated by apical Cl channels, we have shown that net secretory capacity can be controlled at a basolateral site, the Na-K-2Cl cotransporter (NKCC). Phorbol myristate acetate (PMA) was found to inhibit both cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP)-regulated Cl secretion and basolateral NKCC function in parallel but not apical Cl channels.
