A closed technique was applied successfully in a patient with Fallot's tetralogy in whom total correction had been previously performed, for creation of continuity between the right ventricle and left pulmonary artery without the use of cardiopulmonary bypass. A surgical approach was achieved by an anterolateral thoracotomy incision in the left third intercostal space. The value of first step isotopic angiography (FSIA) with 99-TC in the study of altered liver kidney and spleen circulation in patients with liver cirrhosis and alcoholic hepatitis is analyzed. One hundred twenty-five consecutive enteroclysis studies performed for the indication of gastrointestinal bleeding were reviewed. The overall yield of positive studies was low (10%) but important lesions were found. Patients with unequivocally normal evaluations of the upper gastrointestinal tract and colon had the highest yield of positive enteroclysis studies (20%). Neither the specific type of bleeding, the presence or absence of abdominal symptoms or physical examination findings, nor the results of laboratory tests were associated with a positive or negative enteroclysis study.

Venous aneurysm not associated with other cardiovascular disease or trauma is a rare condition. A case is presented of bilateral jugular and mediastinal venous aneurysm, which was detected and depicted to a full extent by means of a blood-pool study with 99mTc -fibrinogen, undertaken because of concurrent thrombocytopenia. The aneurysm was confirmed by subsequent X-ray angiography and surgery. In radioisotopic blood pool study venous aneurysm, unlike arterial or aortic aneurysm, may be filled to the equilibrium state later than the appearance of the cardiac pool.

Perfusion defect in the dynamic study and slow filling of the lesion by a blood pool agent were observed in three cases with large cavernous hemangiomas of the liver. This finding is explained by the low perfusion and the large blood volume of cavernous hemangiomas. When such a lesion is suspected a late blood pool study should be performed in order to demonstrate the true vascularity of the lesion.

Myocardial damage and cardiopulmonary functions in patients with Duchenne's muscular dystrophy (DMD) were assessed using thallium-201 myocardial single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and technetium-99m multigated radionuclide angiography. PURPOSE: Selective mesenteric angiography is an expensive, invasive, diagnostic, and therapeutic tool for lower gastrointestinal hemorrhage. Some institutions have required a positive nuclear medicine bleeding scan before angiography. We have attempted to determine if this is a valid screening test for mesenteric angiography. Are there any other factors to predict which patients are actively bleeding and who will benefit from angiography?

Peripheral pulmonary stenosis is frequently associated with congenital heart disease and seen in childhood. It is rather rarely discovered in adult patients. In adults, however, it is detected as an isolated congenital deformity or as part of generalized congenital cardiovascular disease and may also be caused by collagen disease. The chest x-ray and nuclear scan demonstrate the condition, but pulmonary angiography is essential for positive confirmation.
