Development and Validation of the Schedule for the Assessment of Insight in Anxiety Disorders (SAI-A).

There is a growing interest in understanding insight or illness awareness in anxiety; however, most assessment instruments were designed for psychosis. The unique features of anxiety highlight the need for tailored measures to accurately evaluate insight. The aim of this study was to develop and validate the Schedule for the Assessment of Insight in Anxiety (SAI-A), a clinician-rated scale for assessing insight in anxiety disorders. We interviewed 46 participants diagnosed with anxiety disorders, conducted SAI-A interviews, and administered self-report measures. Using correlation and principal

Alprazolam versus buspirone in the treatment of outpatients with generalized anxiety disorder.

The efficacy and safety of alprazolam and buspirone for treating generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) were compared in a 6-week, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study of 94 outpatients. Mean daily doses at the end of the study were 1.9 mg alprazolam and 18.7 mg buspirone. As judged by the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale, Hamilton Depression Rating Scale, Physician's Global Improvement Scale, and other efficacy scales, alprazolam and buspirone were similar in efficacy, but more effective than placebo, for treating anxiety and depression symptoms in these patients. Clinically important

Reliability and validity of the Japanese version of the Glasgow Edinburgh Throat Scale (GETS-J): Use for a symptom scale of globus sensation.

OBJECTIVE: Globus sensation, a feeling of lump or something stuck in the throat, could be caused by structural, functional, and psychogenic diseases. Due to a possible multifactorial nature of the disease, neither diagnosing test battery nor standard treatment for globus sensation has been established. Therefore, a questionnaire to accurately identify globus patients and evaluate the severity of the disease is desired. Glasgow Edinburgh Throat Scale (GETS) is a 10-item questionnaire about the throat symptoms consisting of three subscales relating to dysphagia, globus sensation, and pain/swelli

The effect of distraction versus post-event processing on cortisol recovery in individuals with elevated social anxiety.

There are preliminary findings that repetitive thinking on social situations (post-event processing; PEP) is associated with impaired cortisol recovery after experiencing social evaluative stressors. However, no studies have examined the effect of experimental manipulation of PEP on cortisol recovery among socially anxious individuals. The aim of the present study was to examine the effect of distraction on cortisol recovery following a social-evaluative stressor in individuals with subclinical social anxiety symptoms. A total of 40 participants, who scored >30 on the Liebowitz Social Anxiety

Psychological suzhi moderates state anxiety and heart rate responses to acute stress in male adolescents.

Psychological suzhi has increasingly been recognized to buffer chronic stress and improve mental health. However, few studies have examined the role of psychological suzhi in the response to acute stress. The current study aimed to investigate whether psychological suzhi can buffer state anxiety and heart rate responses to acute stress in adolescents. Healthy male adolescents (N = 63) were classified into high (N = 30) or low (N = 33) psychological suzhi groups based on the Chinese norm of adolescent psychological suzhi scale-simplified version. They completed both the modified Trier Social St
