The objective of this study was to estimate the intake of organic tin compounds from foodstuffs in a Finnish market basket. The study was conducted by collecting 13 market baskets from supermarkets and market places in the city of Kuopio, eastern Finland. Altogether 115 different food items were bought. In each basket, foodstuffs were mixed in proportion to their consumption and analysed by GC/MS for seven organic tin compounds (mono-, di-, and tributyltin, mono-, di-, and triphenyltin, and dioctyltin). Tin halide perovskites (THPs) have been established as a lower-toxicity alternative to lead halide perovskites. In spite of the increasing interest, the behavior of photoexcited charges has not been well understood in this class of materials. We here investigate the behavior of excess electrons in a series of tin halide perovskites by employing advanced electronic-structure calculations. A 9 cm-lesion of telangiectatic focal nodular hyperplasia was incidentally identified in a 31-yr-old female. Despite a typical appearance by X-ray computed tomography and ultrasonography, scintigraphy with technetium-99m-(99mTc) colloid, 99mTc-diethyliminodiacetic acid, and 99mTc-labeled red cells failed to demonstrate any abnormalities. These findings are felt to reflect the relative lack of architectural disruption that histologically characterizes this particular lesion. The present report described the imaging characteristics of the telangiectatic form of focal nodular hyperplasia.

A new quaternary phase compound, Ru4Sn20In2O21, was synthesized by using a reactive tin-flux method. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that this compound crystallizes in a monoclinic structure with the noncentrosymmetric space group Cm. The structure consists of Ru-centered (Sn/In)6 octahedra, featuring both condensed and isolated layers, which are surrounded by tetrahedrally disordered and ordered SnO3 units. In this study, SnO₂/SnS₂ heterojunctions were successfully constructed in situ via a low-temperature solid-phase method using synthesized tin oxide hydroxide sulfate precursors and thiourea as raw materials. Towards application of 44Sc for diagnostic nuclear medicine, a 44Ti/44Sc generator based on an inorganic resin has been evaluated. Unlike other radionuclide generators used for medical applications, the long-term retention of the parent 44Ti is vital due to its long half life. As a novel eco-friendly gas insulation medium, perfluoroisobutyronitrile (C4F7N) has been utilized in various gas insulated equipment. Considering the biological toxicity of C4F7N, it is of great engineering significance to develop highly sensitive sensors for leakage detection scenarios. Herein, we fabricated the first SnO2 nanoparticles based highly sensitive C4F7N gas sensor that realized a superior response of 65.01% within 21 s for 50 ppm C4F7N exposure and a detection limit of 0.25 ppm. Meanwhile, successive response-recovery tests were performed to confirm its durability and stability.

Titanium nitride (TIN) hard protective films were fabricated on AISI52100 bearing steel surface employing plasma immersion ion implantation and deposition (PIIID) technique. Selenium-stabilized carbanions are available by a route that does not involve acid-catalyzed formation of selenoacetals. Aldehydes are converted first into alpha-hydroxystannanes and then into alpha-(phenylseleno)stannanes. Treatment with BuLi affords selenium-stabilized carbanions by preferential Sn/Li exchange.

Technetium-99m-(tin) colloid uptake in renal transplants was quantified to evaluate rejection. A dynamic acquisition following i.v. injection of 110 MBq of this radiopharmaceutical enabled quantification of 15 to 20 min transplant uptake (PU), in terms of percentage of an injected dose after allowing for attenuation in the patient. Twenty of 22 patients with tuberculous hepatitis had abnormal Tc-99m tin colloid liver scans. However, in the majority of the patients the changes were mild and nonspecific.
