INTRODUCTION: Revitalization procedures have been widely used for the treatment of immature permanent teeth with apical periodontitis. The treatment procedures appear to be capable of encouraging continued root development and thickening of the canal walls. The nature of tissues formed in the canal space and at the root apex after revitalization has been shown histologically in several animal studies; similar studies in humans were recently reported.
METHODS: A 9-year-old boy had a traumatic injury to his upper anterior teeth. Tooth #9 suffered a complicated crown fracture with a pulp exposur

The need to rehabilitate severely compromised teeth is frequent in daily clinical practice. Tooth extraction and replacement with dental implant represents a common treatment choice. However, the survival rate for implants is inferior to teeth, even if severely damaged but properly treated. In order to reestablish a physiological supracrestal tissue attachment of damaged teeth and to arrange an efficient ferrule effect, three options can be considered: crown lengthening, orthodontic extrusion and surgical extrusion. Crown lengthening is considered an invasive technique that causes the removal

BACKGROUND: In patients with gingival exposure on smiling due to altered passive eruption, esthetic crown lengthening is often indicated. Meticulous planning and surgical precision are key for successful outcomes. Surgical guides are helpful tools that are seldomly reported on in the literature related to esthetic crown lengthening procedures.
TYPES OF STUDIES REVIEWED: The authors searched the literature for articles that described the planning, tools, and execution related to esthetic crown lengthening procedures.
RESULTS: Several techniques have been reported to guide the esthetic crown l

Dental trauma is one of the most prevalent problems seen in clinical practice. Crown fractures of anterior teeth are particularly common among children and adolescents. Such injuries have significant physical, psychological, and social impacts, necessitating immediate intervention. This case report describes the management of an uncomplicated crown fracture in an eight‑year‑old girl following traumatic dental injury. The fractured fragment was retrieved, stored appropriately, and re‑attached using adhesive protocols. The procedure involved cleaning and conditioning of both the tooth and fragme

The paper presents the results on hereditary and environmental dental findings in identification of human remains exhumed from mass graves i … rmalities of the tooth shape were found in 11% of the cases. The majority of them were found on the tooth crowns 6%, and less on the tooth roots 5%. Environmental dental findings that were the most significant for the identifications were prosthetic appliances in 30% of cases. Prostheses were helpful in the identification of 3% of the cases, while crowns and …

With the advancement in ceramic restorations bonded to tooth structure, the treatment has become a feasible and conservative option to restore teeth with alteration in shape when owing to high demand in esthetics, with or without minimum tooth preparation. This article describes a report of a 32-year-old woman who was dissatisfied with her smile. The patient reported that she still had deciduous teeth, and that the maxillary lateral incisors had been restored with direct resin composite to correct the teeth shape. After discussing the restorative possibilities, a decision was made to place all

Interglobular dentine (IGD) is an area of poorly mineralized dentine matrix. It has been reported that there is an association between the retraction of odontoblast processes (OP) and the formation of IGD. A variation of the extent of OP has been described depending on the region of the tooth and age. This study aimed to find out the regional distribution of IGD in human teeth to observe any association between the extent of OP and the pattern of distribution of IGD. Ground sections were prepared from 52 extracted permanent teeth and the presence of IGD was observed in different regions of the

BACKGROUND: Paediatric-preformed zirconia crowns have been associated with several issues, primarily their inability to be crimped and the need for extensive tooth preparation. Additionally, the capacity to adjust the size, shape, and fit of these crowns is very limited.
AIM: To evaluate and compare the fracture strength of four different types of dental crowns intended for paediatric patients.
DESIGN: The fracture resistance of four types of paediatric crowns was evaluated using the universal testing machine; freshly extracted primary molars received one of the following: preformed zirconia

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM: Whether the replacement of a missing tooth with a fixed partial denture supported by an endodontically treated abutment could be improved with 1-piece endodontic crowns is unclear.
PURPOSE: The purpose of the study was to evaluate the mechanical behavior of a fixed partial denture (FPD) according to the preparation of the abutment teeth (1-piece endodontic crown or complete crown) in terms of stress magnitude in the prosthesis, cement layer, and tooth.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: A posterior model with 2 abutment teeth (first molar and first premolar) was modeled with a compu

(1) A significant percentage of orthodontic practice involves impacted teeth that require surgical procedures to aid in their successful realignment. (2) A technique for direct bonding to the crown is a simple, one operation procedure which dies not damage the tooth or adjacent tissues. (3) The most beneficial application of force to any preselected aspect of the crown to help reduce traction time can be used. (4) If carried out correctly, there is little likelihood of failure.

BACKGROUND: Tooth gemination is a single enlarged or joined tooth with a normal tooth count when the anomalous tooth is counted as one. Mandibular second premolars show an elevated variability of crown morphology. Only nine cases of isolated second premolar macrodontia have been reported in the literature.
CASE DESCRIPTION: This case report presents the clinical and radiographic findings and conservative treatment of an atypical and rare case of localized bilateral molarization of mandibular second premolars.
CONCLUSION: Dental professionals should acquire deeper knowledge about anomalies an

Odontoplasty (floating and occlusal equilibration) is the most commonly performed procedure in equine dentistry. From an anatomic perspective, an irregular occlusal surface, prominent cingula, transverse ridges, and enamel points all contribute to the function, form, and longevity of the equine cheek tooth. With limited reserve crown available and an average functional life range between 18 and 25 years, removal of tooth structure should be conservative. The authors consider a quality oral examination to be the most important dental procedure performed in the horse. Individual tooth evaluation

INTRODUCTION: The occurrence of multiple injuries of the same tooth is extremely rare. This case report describes the treatment in a midroot and complicated crown-root-fractured permanent incisor that remained untreated for 4 years after the accident.
METHODS: The tooth was treated by delayed partial pulpotomy using calcium hydroxide.
RESULTS: At the 3-year follow-up after treatment, the tooth was still vital and functional without any clinical and radiographic signs and symptoms.
CONCLUSIONS: A young permanent tooth with hyperplastic pulpitis caused by trauma has a great inherent defensive
