Evidence of infection with spirorchid flukes (Digenea: Spirorchidae) was sought at necropsy of 96 stranded green turtles, Chelonia mydas, that were examined during the course of a survey of marine turtle mortality in southeastern Queensland, Australia. Three species of spirorchid (Hapalotrema mehrai, H. postorchis, and Neospirorchis schistosomatoides) were identified. Behçet's disease (BD) affects the lung as well as the intestine, central nervous system, kidney, and other organs. Pulmonary vasculitis is one of the most severe complications in BD because it can cause fatal bleeding. Corticosteroids and other immunosuppressive drugs have been used to treat pulmonary vasculitis, but the efficacy of these agents has not yet been established. A pregnancy complicated by vaginal stenosis six years after diagnosis of Stevens-Johnson syndrome is described. The pathologic changes in the vagina have not previously been reported. The basic pathology of severe mucosal erythema multiforme was present, as well as ectasia of the superficial capillaries and small venules. Ascaris infection, when severe, may manifest with constitutional symptoms. The parasites penetrate the intestinal walls, reach the venules and lymphatics and, through the portal circulation, may affect the heart. We report a case of Behcet's disease in a pregnant woman associated with secondary Frosted Branch Angiitis (FBA). FBA is a rare entity characterized by a florid translucent retinal perivascular sheathing of both arterioles and venules, with variable uveitis, retinal oedema and visual loss. To our knowledge, this is the first published report of FBA secondary to Behcet's disease in pregnancy.

Passive cutaneous anaphylaxis was produced in chickens with bovine serum albumin (BSA) and anti-BSA chicken serum. Colloidal carbon was then given intravenously to identify the leaky vessels. Microscopic examination of cleared unstained skin revealed the topography of labelled vessels. The carbon labelling was confined to venules and small veins only. Examination of the time-course of permeability response revealed a biphasic pattern.

A 1-year-old girl who had failure to thrive died suddenly of pulmonary veno-occlusive disease. In this case, the vascular disorder was due to nonthrombotic obstruction of only the postcapillary venules. This unusual pattern of involvement and the absence of thrombi, new or old, suggests that the pathogenesis of pulmonary veno-occlusive disease may involve mechanisms other than thrombosis.

Becker's melanosis is an uncommon condition characterized by hypertrichosis, hyperpigmentation of the epidermis, dermal melanophages and absence of nevus cells. Ultrastructural examination of such a melanotic lesion from a young white man revealed giant melanosomes. In addition, normal-sized melanosomes were found singly in the keratinocytes of the involved skin. Dermal venules were surrounded by multiple layers of basement membrane.

Morphometry of the bulbar conjunctiva vessels in 50 patients with gout was carried out by television capillaroscopy with videorecording. The findings indicate that microcirculatory disorders start with dilatation of the venules, after which arterioles and capillaries are involved. This results in alteration of the arteriovenular coefficient and of the bloodflow velocity in the capillaries. Hence, the metabolic form of gout may be regarded as the initial stage of disease.

Intestinal vasculitis is an infrequent entity in the absence of systemic vasculitis or chronic inflammatory bowel disease. The primary involvement of gut restricted to mesenteric venous territory is exceedingly rare. We report a pseudotumoural lesion of the cecum caused by localized phlebitis and venulitis associated with thrombosis, with a putative immune etiology, in a young adult presenting with obstructive intestinal crisis.
