It was established that the trajectory of the excitative area (an increase of negativity) on the surface of the brain does not go through the place of the tumor. It either stops there during a certain period of time or makes a sharp turn, or is subjective to a splitting. In such cases the excitative area does not extend in the usual way in one direction, but speards simultaneously to opposite sides. The author discusses the possible influence of the pathological corticofugal impulsations from the perifocal zone of the tumor on the mechanism of pacemaker scanning.

The authors studied some psychophysiological characteristics of precocious and usual periods of rapid sleep in 17 patients with polysymptomatic narcolepsy during 92 attacks of day sleep. In 62 normals and 70 patients with reflex vertebrogenic syndromes the authors studied tissue clearance (the time of resorbtion--50% and 80% isotope, the mean rate of elimination in percentage) by radioisotope indications. Trigeminal neuralgia may be due to many causes, being in this respect secondary. To a certain degree trigeminal neuralgia may be facilitated by an individual increase of reactivity in the trigeminal system to noxious factors. For this reason, in treating trigeminal neuralgia, it is necessary first of all to take into consideration the possible etiological factors including different diseases of the teeth, in the innervation of which an important role is played by the fibers of the trigeminal nerve.

The authors report a clinico-morphological traits in Ray's syndrome which occurred in 10 children with acute respiratory disorders. The prevalent symptoms were encephalopathy with fatty dystrophy of the internal organs and mainly of the liver. Literature data concerning the clinical picture, diagnosis and treatment of this disorder are discussed.

With the aid of a REG method the authors studied the effect of dexametasone on the cerebral hemodynamics in 37 patients with cerebral atherosclerosis with chronic cerebrovascular insufficiency. It was possible to show that there is an accelerated venous blood outflow, a decreased vascular resistance, as well as the absence of a vasopressor reaction to a single intravenous administration of 4 mg of dexametasone. The capability of the preparation to reduce the volume of cerebral pulse waves limits its use in the initial decreased amplitude of cerebral pulse fluctuations.

The author studied the dynamics of development of the Na+ and K+ content in the blood plasma, erythrocytes and urine in 82 patients with chronic alcoholism during the period of active antialcohol treatment. It was established that the content of Na in the blood plasma was decreased while its excretion with urine increased. Signs of mineral-corticoid insufficiency remained even 2--3 years following treatment.

The polygraphic studies with the calculation of the complex of the EEG and REG quantitative parameters which were conducted in 20 individuals of young age and 20 adult individuals, displayed that there was an increase of the vascular tone and a decrease of the brain pulse blood-content which were observed not rarely with the EEG irritation at the same time in the mature age. Papaverine and euphilline action revealed dependence on the initial tone of the brain vessels and expressiveness of the general hemodynamic shifts.

The author studied the action of a Soviet preparation Metindion in 22 patients with serial epileptic seizures and in 16 patients with an epileptic status. The studies demonstrated a high anticonvulsive activity in serial fits. In epileptical states the action of metindion was less expressed. Its combination with diazepam preparations and barbiturates appeared to have a more expressed and prolonged anticonvulsive action. Metindion is most effective when used at initial stages of a convulsive condition.
