An infertile 27 year old man with precocious puberty is described. He presented in adulthood with unilateral and then bilateral gynecomastia, and subsequently testicular tumors developed. BACKGROUND: Steroidogenic factor 1 (SF-1), encoded by the nuclear receptor subfamily 5 group A member 1 (NR5A1) gene, is a transcriptional factor crucial for adrenal and gonadal organogenesis. This study compares the peak serum growth hormone (GH) concentration during slow wave sleep with the serum GH responses to insulin-induced hypoglycaemia and intravenous arginine infusion in 23 children referred because of short stature (20) or precocious puberty (3).
