The beneficial effects of S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAM) in potentiating the mobilization of cadmium by cadmium trisodium diethylenetriamine penta acetic acid (DTPA) from the major target organs and restoration of depleted tissue glutathione (GSH), zinc and copper concentration, were determined in cadmium-exposed mice. The results indicated a significant depletion of cadmium concentration from the blood in DTPA plus SAM treated animals compared with DTPA or SAM alone treated groups. To investigate the destructive process of connective tissues in gastric ulcer, both collagenolytic and gelatinolytic activities were examined in the homogenates of rat acetic acid-induced gastric ulcer, a typical model of chronic ulcer. As one of the factors contributing to the intractability of chronic gastric ulcer, the effect of hypoxia is examined in this paper, based upon the experimental acetic acid ulcer in the stomach of Wistar rats. Results indicate that hypoxia has a harmful influence on the healing process of chronic, gastric ulcer in rats, and also that this effect of hypoxia can be prevented by administration of Coenzyme Q10 in diet.

Plasmodium falciparum is the most lethal malaria parasite. The present study investigates the interaction capabilities of select plant derivatives, iso-mukaadial acetate (IMA) and ursolic acid acetate (UAA), against P. falciparum Hsp70-1 (PfHsp70-1) using in vitro approaches. OBJECTIVE: To investigate whether enhancing vaginal acidity improves the success of medical abortions in the midtrimester.

A series of unsupported and supported vanadium phosphorus oxide catalysts were prepared by employing a new strategy, which significantly reduced the complexity of catalyst preparation. The greatly simplified catalyst fabrication benefits a greener and lower-cost process for practical applications. The currently fabricated systems showed ca. 90% target product(s) selectivity with a promising yield as well as catalyst durability.
