Corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF), a 41 amino acid polypeptide, has been isolated from ovine hypothalamic extracts, sequenced, and synthesized. It has a high potency for stimulating the secretion of corticotropin-like and beta-endorphin-like immunoactive substances in vitro and in vivo in laboratory animals and humans. The high concentration of CRF-like immunoactivity in hypophyseal portal plasma supports the hypothesis that CRF is the physiological hypothalamic factor. Ornidazole is a commonly prescribed antiparasitic drug for parasitic infestations, including amoebiasis, giardiasis and Trichomonas vaginalis. Several cases of antibiotic-induced autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) or AIH-like syndrome have been reported recently. Percutaneous absorption of hydrocortisone was studied in 18 children (aged from 6 weeks to 14 1/2 years) with atopic or seborrhoeic dermatitis, by measuring their serum cortisol before and after application of 1% hydrocortisone cream. We report an unusual complication of COVID-19 infection in a 53-year-old Caucasian man. He presented with shortness of breath, fever and pleuritic chest pain. A CT pulmonary angiogram (CTPA) demonstrated acute bilateral pulmonary embolism and bilateral multifocal parenchymal ground glass change consistent with COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) infection.
