Nineteen young male workers exposed occupationally from 1975-1977 to inhaled particles of aluminium fluoride or sulphate at 2 plants, developed nocturnal wheezing and breathlessness with reversible airways obstruction after an average of 4 months employment. The regioselectivity of the epoxide ring opening reaction of cis and trans TIPS-monoprotected 2,3-epoxy-1,4-diols with diethylalkynyl aluminum reagents was studied. Alane and alanate conditions in toluene or dichloromethane were explored. The alkynyl attack at the C2 epoxide carbon was favored for both, the alane and alanate conditions in toluene, while in dichloromethane the C3 attack was preferred. The effects of poly aluminum chloride (PACl) dosing positions on the performance of a pilot scale anoxic/oxic membrane bioreactor were investigated. Activation of transducin-GDP by NaF is mainly mediated by aluminofluorde or beryllofluoride complexes acting as GTP gamma-phosphate analogs.
