[Results and experiences with digital subtraction angiography (DSA) in traumatic vascular lesions of the thoracic aorta and the supra-aortic branches].

Numerous positive reports on the results obtained with digital subtraction angiography (DSA) in x-ray diagnostics in the visualisation of peripheral vascular areas, have been published ever since that method was introduced. From a surgical point of view it has therefore been suggested to extend the indication for vascular visualisation on account of the low invasiveness of venous DSA (vDSA). Only few reports have been published on the suitability of vDSA in traumatic vascular lesions. Whereas Starck and Rauber recommend vDS as a feasible method for the visualisation of traumatic vascular lesio

Three-dimensional time-of-flight MR angiography for evaluation of intracranial aneurysms after endosaccular packing with Guglielmi detachable coils: comparison with 3D digital subtraction angiography.

The sensitivities and specificities of three-dimensional time-of-flight MR angiography (3D-TOF MRA) and 3D digital subtraction angiography (3D-DSA) were compared for evaluation of cerebral aneurysms after endosaccular packing with Guglielmi detachable coils (GDCs). Thirty-three patients with 33 aneurysms were included in this prospective study. 3D-TOF MRA and 3D-DSA were performed in the same week on all patients. Maximal intensity projection (MIP) and 3D reconstructed MRA images were compared with 3D-DSA images. The diameters of residual/recurrent aneurysms detected on 3D-DSA were calculated

Early cerebral venous drainage associated with a brain tumor: a correlation of digital subtraction angiography and MRI. Illustrative case.

BACKGROUND: Early venous drainage (EVD) is a critical diagnostic feature of arteriovenous malformations (AVMs). However, other conditions can be associated with EVD and mimic AVMs. OBSERVATIONS: This is a unique case of a 19-year-old female who presented with seizures secondary to a hemorrhagic intra-axial mass and subdural hematoma. MRI demonstrated heterogeneous enhancement and extensive perilesional FLAIR changes. Cerebral angiography was consistent with a left parietal vascular lesion, with EVD consistent with arteriovenous shunting and increased blood flow. Subsequently, the patient unde

Using temporal and structural data to reconstruct 3D cerebral vasculature from a pair of 2D digital subtraction angiography sequences.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this work is to present a new method for reconstructing patient-specific three-dimensional (3D) vasculature of the brain from a pair of digital subtraction angiography (DSA) image sequences from different viewpoints, e.g., from bi-plane angiography. Our long-term goal is to provide high resolution visualization of 3D vasculature with dynamic flow of contrast agent from limited data that is readily available during surgical procedures. The proposed method is the second of a three-stage process composed of 1) augmenting vessel segmentation with vessel radii and timing of

Shortened cerebral circulation time correlates with seizures in brain arteriovenous malformation: a cross-sectional quantitative digital subtraction angiography study.

OBJECTIVE: Seizure is the most common clinical presentation in patients with nonhemorrhagic brain arteriovenous malformations (BAVMs) and it influences their quality of life. Angioarchitectural analysis of the seizure risk for BAVMs is subjective and does not consider hemodynamics. This study aimed to investigate the angioarchitectural and hemodynamic factors that may be associated with seizure in patients with BAVMs. METHODS: From 2011 to 2019, 104 patients with supratentorial BAVMs without previous hemorrhage or treatment were included and grouped according to the initial presentation of se

Four-dimensional digital subtraction angiography for the vascular anatomical diagnosis of dural arteriovenous malformation: Comparison with the conventional method.

BACKGROUND: Two-dimensional digital subtraction angiography (2D-DSA) and conventional three-dimensional digital subtraction angiography (3D-DSA) are used for the detailed analysis of dural arteriovenous fistula (DAVF). Recently, four-dimensional digital subtraction angiography (4D-DSA), a novel technology, has been attracting attention. The current study aimed to evaluate the capability of 4D-DSA in assessing anatomical angioarchitecture in DAVF. METHODS: In total, 10 consecutive patients with DAVF who underwent 3D-DSA and 4D-DSA at a single institution were included in the analysis. Initiall

Anterior tibial artery injury is not the contraindication of medial plantar flap: digital subtraction angiography evidence and clinical application.

The medial plantar artery (MPA) is often sacrificed as the vascular pedicle of the medial plantar flap (MPF). However, for patients with ankle soft tissue defect caused by traffic accident, the anterior tibial artery (ATA) could be damaged and the blood supply of the distal foot would only come from the MPA and the lateral plantar artery (LPA). In this case, sacrificing the MPA for the MPF means that the LPA will become the mainly source of blood supply of the distal foot. Whether the blood supply of the distal foot is adequately guaranteed remains to be discussed. A total of seven patients wi

The single-phase computed tomographic angiography clot burden score is independently associated with digital subtraction angiography derived American Society of Interventional and Therapeutic Neuroradiology collateral score.

OBJECTIVES: The variation in quality and quantity of collateral status (CS) is in part responsible for a wide variability in extent of neural damage following acute ischemic stroke from large vessel occlusion (AIS-LVO). Single-phase CTA based clot burden score (CBS) is a promising marker in estimating CS. The aim of this study is to assess the relationship of pretreatment CTA based CBS with the reference standard Digital subtraction angiography (DSA) based American Society of Interventional and Therapeutic Neuroradiology (ASITN) CS. METHODS: In this retrospective study, inclusion criteria wer

[Subclavian steal-carotid recovery phenomenon due to innominate artery occlusion: Doppler ultrasound and digital subtraction angiography findings and endovascular treatment].

Innominate artery occlusion is a rare condition that can cause symptoms in the anterior cerebral circulation, vertebrobasilar system and upper extremity, while it can also be asymptomatic. We report the Doppler ultrasound and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) findings of the right subclavian artery and right common carotid artery flow by retrograde flow from the ipsilateral vertebral artery due to innominate artery occlusion. We aimed to discuss the results of primary stenting together with the technical and clinical success.
