BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Single Balloon Enteroscopy enables us to examine the small bowel for various diseases. It provides a view of the intestinal mucosa with biopsy capability, which may be helpful in search of a mucosal disease such as Celiac Disease. Celiac Disease is a proximal enteropathy developed in genetically susceptible individuals to wheat protein gluten. Examination of the duodenum and proximal jejunum are mostly diagnostic. Capsule endoscopy (CE) is still of considerable interest and, as in recent years, a large number of abstracts have been devoted to CE in various possible indications. As with the other reports, only the most relevant studies and those covering special and new aspects are discussed in detail here. The remaining abstracts feature in the tables and in the reference list. Push enteroscopy (PE) is still the method of choice with which CE has to be compared, but double-balloon enteroscopy is emerging as another interesting alternative or complementary method.

We herein report a kidney transplant recipient with recurrent bleeding due to multiple ileal ulcerations associated with mycophenolate mofetil (MMF). Symptoms persisted despite surgical resection and embolization. Double-balloon enteroscopy revealed multiple ulcerations, and a biopsy helped exclude other causes. The discontinuation of MMF led to rapid symptom resolution and healing of the ulceration.
