A 19-year-old male with Apert's syndrome developed psychotic symptoms that responded to haloperidol. He was also found to have partial agenesis of the corpus callosum and enlarged lateral ventricles on a head CT scan. The implications of these findings in the context of psychotic symptoms are discussed. There are no previous reports of psychosis in patients with Apert's syndrome.

Interhemispheric coherence and relative power were compared in a patient with total agenesis of the corpus callosum and age and sex matched controls. The patient showed lower interhemispheric coherence than normal controls in F3-F4, C3-C4, and in P3-P4 especially in the higher theta, lower alpha, and beta bands. Differences in relative power were much less marked. These results seem to reflect that interhemispheric connection is degraded because of callosal agenesis.

Previous postmortem anatomical studies have demonstrated differences between male and female in the size and shape of the splenium of the corpus callosum. Anomalies of the corpus callosum (CC) in children can be subdivided into two main categories: Malformations (also known as dysgenesis) and damage to a previously well-formed callosum. Pre- or perinatally acquired damage may have a mainly vascular, obstructive or hypoxic-ischemic etiology, whereas endotoxins and exotoxins might also play a role. Two siblings, a boy and a girl, with agenesis of the corpus callosum, apneic spells, attacks of apnea, cyanosis and spontaneous hypothermia, are reported about. Both children died after a few months of life. Postmortem examination revealed a severe spongiosis of the white matter in addition to the agenesis of the corpus callosum and septum pellucidum, in both cases.

A 2-year-old boy with psychomotor retardation, congenital unilateral ptosis, bilateral adducted thumbs, weakness of upper limbs, and Hirschsprung's disease (aganglionosis), with complete agenesis of the corpus callosum and hypoplasia of the inferior vermis and cerebellum is reported. His 24-year-old maternal uncle, with severe psychomotor retardation but none of the other physical problems, also has agenesis of the corpus callosum demonstrated by CT scan.
