Occlusal forces and chewing ability in dentitions with cross-arch bridges.

The main aims of this thesis were 1) to study the pattern of axially directed occlusal forces developed during chewing and biting in dentitions restored with cross-arch bridges, 2) to find out to what extent these forces are influenced by the amount of periodontal tissue supporting the bridge abutments and 3) to study the chewing ability in subjects supplied with cross-arch bridges. For the purpose of aims 1 and 2 a method was developed which permits measurement of occlusal forces in various parts of as well as over the entire dentition simultaneously. The method is based on the use of strain-…

Development of deciduous and permanent dentition in Tarsius and its phylogenetic significance.

The earliest stages of development and differentiation of deciduous and permanent teeth were studied in prenatal and perinatal tarsiers. Both deciduous and successional teeth develop at loci for I1, I2, C, P2-4. Relationships among the dental lamina, enamel organs, and successional lamina were used to determine tooth homologies. During the second half of prenatal life, dP2 and dI2 undergo abnormal development. Their dentin becomes fragmented, and these teeth are shed or resorbed without eruption during the perinatal period. Our study provides evidence of an intermediate phase in evolutionary t

Dentition of monozygotic twins concordant for Down's syndrome: a case report.

Examination of the dental casts of Down's syndrome twins showed a high percentage of concordance and mirror-imaging relative to crown morphology and static occlusion. These supplemental dental findings supported an earlier diagnosis of monozygosity determined by other clinical means. Reduction of mesiodistal dimension of the dental crowns and deviations in their morphology is consistent with Down's syndrome.

The Cost of Caries in Primary Dentition: A Case Report of a Rare Cause.

A 10.2-year-old girl, accompanied by her parents, came to the Department of Jaw Orthopedics at the Clinic for Dental Medicine. Based on the initial orthopantomography, multiple tooth impactions were diagnosed. In the upper jaw, the impaction of the canine and the second premolar on the left side was observed, along with.

Rehabilitating Compromised Dentition With All-on-6: A Multidisciplinary Clinical Approach.

This case report describes the rehabilitation of a patient using an implant‑supported fixed prosthesis in the mandible and a three‑unit fixed partial denture in the maxilla, following the extraction of periodontally compromised teeth. Six endosseous implants were placed in the mandibular arch, achieving favorable primary stability. The postoperative and maintenance phases were uneventful, with no biological or mechanical complications observed. The maxillary arch was restored with a tooth‑supported fixed partial denture, planned to optimize both esthetics and function. At the four‑month follow

Exfoliation of primary dentition in children with Osteogenesis Imperfecta medicated with bisphosphonates.

AIM: To study root resorption of the primary dentition in children with osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) medicated with bisphosphonates (BPs) and compare the results with a control group of healthy patients. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted analysing 20 panoramic radiographs belonging to children with OI with a mean age of 8.18 (±1.60), who had received BPs in a period equal to or greater than 1 year, comparing them to a control group of 367 panoramic radiographs belonging to healthy children with a mean age of 9.19 (±1.62). Children with tooth agenesis, caries or bilateral restorat…
