A coiled electric cable was removed from the urinary bladder of a 35-year-old male, electrician by profession. Psychiatric evaluation revealed normal childhood and no psychiatric illness. Proper management by both a urologist and a psychiatrist is required in these cases.

An eight-year old male was admitted with complaints of right scrotal swelling, dysuria and intermittent retention of urine for 10 days. On per-rectal examination, a hard mass was palpable in the posterior urethra. An X-ray (KUB) of the abdomen revealed a double dumb-bell calculus at the base of bladder, extending into the posterior urethra. A cystolithotomy via the suprapubic approach was successfully curative.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: The rates of many sexually transmitted infections (STIs) have increased in recent years. Many health care professionals miss these potential diagnoses in clinical practice.
METHODS: Two case studies are presented, one an adult female with dysuria; the other an adult male with a rash. Appropriate differential diagnoses and relevant history, examination, and investigation details are discussed.

Hemorrhagic cystitis is a common complication following the use of cyclophosphamide. Associated dysuria can be painful and there are few good options to relieve pain. Phenazopyridine has historically been utilized for dysuria and is available over the counter. However, it is associated with hematologic side effects with prolonged use. Here we present a case of a patient who developed Heinz body hemolysis following prolonged administration of phenazopyridine to treat cyclophosphamide-induced hemorrhagic cystitis following hematopoietic stem cell transplant.

Zinner's syndrome is a rare congenital malformation characterized by the association of unilateral renal agenesis with ipsilateral seminal vesicle cyst and ejaculatory duct obstruction. Most patients are asymptomatic until the third or fourth decade of life when the syndrome is associated with dysuria, perineal pain, infertility, and painful ejaculation. In this report, we present the common imaging findings of this rare developmental anomaly involving the mesonephric duct in a 48-year-old male patient experiencing pelvic pain, recurrent dysuria, and pollakiuria.

The advent of transobturator tape (TOT) in 2001 reduced the risk of bladder perforation to 1% in TOT as compared to 5% in tension-free vaginal tape (TVT). We present a case of bladder perforation in TOT where the diagnosis was missed for 5 years. The effect of trimethoprim was compared with that of oxytetracycline in the treatment of uncomplicated urethritis and/or cervicitis. Twenty-six patients treated with oxytetracycline were all microbiologically cured. Of 19 patients treated with trimethoprim, ten (53%) still harboured the chlamydia after two weeks.
