A cadmium germanium arsenide compound, Cd3Ge2As4, was synthesized using a double-containment fused quartz ampoule method within a rocking furnace and a melt-quench technique. The crystal structure was determined from single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SC-XRD), scanning and transmission electron microscopies (i.e. SEM, STEM, and TEM), and selected area diffraction (SAD) and confirmed with electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD). The chemistry was verified with electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS).

Antimony (Sb) is a critical metal and an emerging hazardous pollutant, chemically akin to arsenic (As), and is widely used as antimonial lead in Pb-(Sn)-Sb-(As) alloys. The present study reports a human case of cutaneous gnathostomiasis with recurrent migratory nodule and persistent eosinophilia in China. A 52-year-old woman from Henan Province, central China, presented with recurrent migratory reddish swelling and subcutaneous nodule in the left upper arm and on the back for 3 months. Rats inoculated intradermally with eel acetylcholine receptor protein(AChR) with adjuvants developed autoimmunity to skeletal muscle AChR. This is evidenced clinically as two episodes of experimental autoimmune myasthenia gravis (EAMG), an acute phase that occurs early (8 days) and is transient, and a chronic phase (30 days) that is usually progressive. Positive delayed cutaneous reactivity appeared at day 4 and serum antibody to eel AChR was detectable by day 7 postinoculation. After day 25 the titer of antibody to syngeneic muscle AChR rose abruptly. Antibody to muscle AChR sedimented as 7S.

A retrospective study revealed seven cases of coelomic steatitis in adult tentacled snakes (Erpeton tentaculatum), including two males and five females, between May 2014 and August 2020. Common clinical signs included death after unusual floating, generalized weakness, inappetence, reduced body condition, coelomic distension, and reproductive pathology in females. Enteric anisakiasis is a known parasitic infection. To date, human infection has been reported as resulting from the inadvertent ingestion of the anisakis larvae when eating raw/undercooked fish, squid, or eel.
