A skeletal dysplasia with previously unreported features is presented. Its evolution was characterized by growth abnormalities of bones without involvement of other organs. Advanced bone age, increased stature and irregular epiphyseal ossification with stippling of the main long bones were documented. We analyzed a consecutive series of 23 total hip arthroplasties that had been performed using modular cementless prostheses in 13 patients with a confirmed diagnosis of multiple epiphyseal dysplasia and end-stage osteoarthritis of the hip. The average Harris hip score improved from 40.6 to 93.8 points. Postoperatively, all hips demonstrated favorable alterations in the biomechanical parameters including hip center of rotation, femoral offset, femoral neck length, and limb length. OBJECTIVE: As competition climbing becomes increasingly popular, younger climbers are entering the sport, and some are among the top-level athletes. This early start combined with intensive training methods can lead to radiographic changes in the fingers and even osteoarthrosis. Since 1994, we have been observing an increasing number of nontraumatic epiphyseal fractures in young athletes.
METHODS: Twenty-four cases of young climbers with nontraumatic epiphyseal fractures of the finger middle joints are presented.

Osteoblastoma is an uncommon benign bone tumor diagnosed in about 1% of primary bone tumors. Predominantly observed in the axial skeleton, it can be observed in long bones (20%), generally in the diaphysis (80% of the long bone localizations). Sports-related epiphyseal injuries in children and adolescents have been becoming more prevalent during recent years. We report 85 patients with epiphyseal fractures of the lower extremity treated in our hospital during the last twenty years, of which 60 were males and 25 females with an average age of 12.6 years (range 4 to 17 years of age). One of the most easily misdiagnosed injuries, which can result in severe consequences in young patients, is a fracture involving the epiphyseal growth plate. The Salter and Harris type V fracture is a relatively uncommon injury resulting from a severe crushing force applied through the epiphysis to an area of the growth plate.
