A collection of 120 oxacillin-susceptible and 120 oxacillin-resistant coagulase-negative staphylococci (CNS) from six tertiary care hospital laboratories were tested by agar disk diffusion, three microdilution broth systems (Sensititre, Dynatech, and Alpkem), and the Vitek AutoMicrobic system for comparison with reference agar dilution results. The present work reports the adsorption, release, antibacterial properties, and in vitro cytotoxicity of sodium fusidate (SF) associated with a carbonated calcium phosphate bone cement. The adsorption study of SF on cement powder compared to stoichiometric hydroxyapatite and nanocrystalline carbonated apatite was investigated to understand the interaction between this antibiotic and the calcium phosphate phases involved in the cement formulation and setting reaction. Forty-two infants and young children with skin diseases of various kinds were treated by the simultaneous application of a combination of three creams, the respective ingredients of which were beclomethasone dipropionate, sodium fusidate and ketoconazole. The treatment produced good results in 97.6% of cases, with eradication of pathogenic agents and satisfactory relief of symptoms. The combination was well tolerated in almost all cases, both locally and systemically, and no adverse reactions were reported.

One of 4 antibiotics with antistaphylococcal activity was given in a conventional oral dose for one day to each of 20 hospitalised patients with synovial effusion of a knee joint requiring aspiration. The aim of this study was to analyze the binding interactions between a common antihypertensive drug (ramipril, R) and the widely distributed plant flavonoid quercetin (Q), in the presence of human serum albumin (HSA).
