We report a case of tetrasomy 8 in a patient suffering from acute myelomonocytic leukemia with extensive leukemic cutaneous infiltration. In all metaphases analyzed t( I;11)(p32;q24) was concomitantly observed. Similarly to other cases with tetrasomy 8, the patient showed monocytic involvement and poor response to chemotherapy. We conclude that this kind of cytogenetic aberration is associated with distinct morphologic and clinical features.

Neutropenic ulceration is a distinctive clinical entity observed in severely myelosuppressed patients, such as those with acute leukemia. This case report demonstrates that evidence of its initial resolution may indicate the earliest stages of bone marrow recovery before this is reflected in the peripheral circulation through the return of functioning neutrophils. The possible influences of leukemic infiltration and bacterial superinfection in its initiation and progression are discussed.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a blood cancer with poor survival outcomes. Acute respiratory failure frequently occurs due to leukemia infiltration of the lungs. Underlying mechanisms remain unexplored and therapeutic interventions remain empiric. Here we map the AML lung microenvironment at spatial and single-cell resolution. We show that extensive remodeling is coupled with inflammation and impaired tissue integrity and function. Gonadal stromal tumors generally are benign and hormonally silent. When hormonally active, they may cause either virilization or feminization, posing an endocrine threat to the prepubertal boy. Accurate diagnosis is essential to differentiate those tumors that require medical management from those best treated by surgical ablation and to distinguish the benign ones from the malignant. Leukemic infiltration is the most common secondary testis tumor; others are neuroblastoma, Wilms' tumor, and gonadoblastoma.
