An experience with 125 over 70 aged patients, undergone surgery for biliary lithiasis, is here reported. These operations represent 17 percent on the whole performed ones for non malignant biliary tract diseases in Institute of Surgical Pathology of the University of Parma. Vesical hernias occur in a significant number of patients with inguinal hernia, though massive inguinoscrotal vesical hernias are uncommon. This paper presents a case report of a male patient where massive inguinoscrotal vesical hernia, and scrotum-located multiple vesical lithiasis was associated to a large amount of lithiasic mass and bilateral ureterohydronephrosis. We consider this association of urinary conditions extremely rare, since to our knowledge bilateral ureterohydronephrosis has only been formerly documented in one case.

OBJECTIVE: Drug-induced lithiasis was well-known some years ago, when sulfonamides poorly soluble in urine were in use. Now, they are again in use for some opportunistic AIDS-related infections. We report herein the case of an AIDS patient, treated with sulfadiazine because of Nocardia pneumonia, that came to the emergency room in acute renal failure.
METHODS/RESULTS: Obstructive uropathy due to radiolucent calculi was suspected and retrograde ureteral catheterization was necessary. The calculi recovered were identified as N-acetyl sulfadiazine by infrared spectrophotometry.

OBJECTIVE: To report one case of microlithiasis diagnosed by Uro-CT scan (with multidetector CT scan).
METHODS: We describe the case of a middle age male patient with symptoms of renal colic and hydronephrosis without and objective cause detected on IVU who underwent CT scan.
RESULTS: The Uro-CT scan showed a 2 mm microlithiasis in the most distal portion of the left ureter with edema of the adjacent area causing obstruction.
CONCLUSIONS: The Uro-CT scan is an useful imaging technique for the diagnosis of microlithiasis, which can be missed by other imaging tests.

In a prospective study, we evaluated the efficacy of extracorporeal lithotripsy (ECL) in the treatment of salivary stones. Peritonitis can result from many causes. We report a case caused by a renal abscess which contaminated the abdominal cavity. A 30-year-old patient was referred with suspected ruptured ectopic pregnancy with signs of peritoneal flooding. The culdocentesis was positive and returned frank pus.
