The poor integration with host cornea tissue and the low mechanical properties of pHEMA hydrogel for artificial cornea remains a difficult problem to solve. A UV-hardening lacquer material based on polyurethane, used in Philips compact disc lens systems, was tested as suitable material for low-cost intraocular lenses (IOLs). A visible light-cured fluoride-releasing sealant was applied to non-etched enamel surfaces of partially erupted permanent molars. A scanning electron microscope was used to find an effective procedure to clean pits and fissures of the occlusal surfaces prior to application of the sealant. This procedure proved clinically acceptable and effective for prevention of dental caries immediately after eruption of permanent molars.

Hitherto a prolonged treatment and immobilization was necessary in case of bone and soft tissue infections of the hand. The result was frequently a poor function of the hand due to ankylosis. The infection period can be shortened by an early, carefully performed sequestrotomy with additional temporary implantation of gentamicin-PMMA minichains. The evaluation of 200 cases shows the good results of this therapy method.

This case report compares the results of placement of HTR (Hard Tissue Replacement Synthetic Bone) and freeze-dried bone allograft (FDBA) in the same patient. 2 notches were made in each of 6 teeth, 1 at the gingival margin and the other at the most apical level of calculus. We report the histological findings seen in the lymph nodes draining the sites of large joint prostheses. Two patients underwent multiple prosthetic joint replacements.
