Operation crash and surge: lessons learned from a region-wide exercise.

The Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) provides base guidance for planning all levels of public safety exercises, from simple seminars to complex full-scale exercises. However, the recent emphasis placed on the Federal Emergency Response Agency Whole Community approach to emergency management involves broadening the spectrum of participants to include multiple community partners. The magnitude and complexity of these exercises necessitates the incorporation of additional planning strategies beyond HSEEP guidance. The objective of this paper is to offer insight on effecti

Revised sunflower-SHELL model--an analysis tool to ensure adverse-events' factor analysis and followed by patient safety strategy.

BACKGROUND: The original SHELL model is specified for analyzing human errors. In addressing medical errors, medical systems should be targeted for improvement instead of blaming human errors. The Sunflower-SHELL model was made for patient-centered incident analysis. A further change was added to enhance more practical and convenient analysis in the healthcare environment based on users' feedback. METHODS: The revised-Sunflower-SHELL model was proposed. Pre-documented factors were newly added in sub-factor rows for easier analysis. Twenty-two nurses learned this analysis in three five-hour day

The Epichaperome Matrix Theory: A systems-level model of active molecular organization.

BACKGROUND: Epichaperomes are stable, stress-induced supramolecular assemblies formed through extensive integration of molecular chaperones, co-chaperones, signaling proteins, and client proteins. Although increasing evidence indicates that epichaperomes act as organizational hubs that coordinate proteostasis and signaling networks in cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and chronic inflammatory diseases, their potential physical roles in cellular organization remain largely unexplored. RESULTS: Here, the Epichaperome Matrix Theory, a systems-level theoretical framework that conceptualizes th

Human-computer interaction: catalyst or drain? Dual pathways of employee creativity from a psychological resources perspective.

PURPOSE: With digital technology and AI increasingly embedded in work, human-computer interaction design has become pivotal in unlocking intelligent technologies' creative potential for both research and practice. Most research focuses on AI's association with employee creativity but rarely explores the psychological mechanisms linking human-computer interaction to employee creativity. This study examines the double-edged nature of this association from a psychological resources perspective. DESIGN/METHODOLOGY/APPROACH: An online survey of employees in firms undergoing digital and intelligent

The impact of decentralisation on sexual and reproductive health services in Ghana.

This paper analyses the impact of decentralisation on the political organisation, management and provision of sexual and reproductive health services in Ghana. It draws on qualitative research and interviews with key informants from the Ministry of Health, donors, NGOs, regional and district health management teams, local government and community leaders. Within a national reproductive health policy framework, previously disparate family planning, maternal and child health, STI and HIV/AIDS programmes have become more integrated, and donors have pooled or co-ordinated their funding. Some decis

From trust to translation: A trust-based, evidence-informed, and adaptive model for scalable technical assistance.

Technical Assistance (TA) is an essential strategy for supporting organizational growth and aiding implementation of evidence-based interventions in mission-driven sectors, including education. While TA is crucial for addressing challenges and improving performance, the field has limited consensus on key features and best practices, particularly in the context of school safety. This paper explores the development, implementation, and application of the Trust-based, Evidence-informed, and Adaptive Model for Scalable Technical Assistance (TEAMS-TA), a comprehensive approach to providing tailored

Deep learning-based labor relations prediction system with multi-source data fusion and early warning mechanisms.

Predicting workplace conflicts before they escalate into formal disputes or collective action represents a persistent challenge in organizational management, one that traditional statistical methods and expert judgment systems address inadequately due to labor relations' complex, multi-factorial nature. We present a deep learning-based early warning system that integrates heterogeneous organizational data-HR records, communication logs, performance trajectories, satisfaction surveys, and external economic indicators-through attention-based multi-modal fusion, explicitly designed to capture bot

Teachers' mental health from the perspectives of moral injury and institutional betrayal, and on trauma-sensitive organizational environments: a narrative review.

Teachers' mental health is a critical public health concern in South Korea. The current educational environment, characterized by intensifying parent-teacher conflicts, legal disputes, and increasing administrative burdens, demonstrates the limitations of interpreting these challenges solely through the lens of individual vulnerability or resilience. Moral injury can provide a useful explanatory framework for understanding how chronic occupational stressors and institutional betrayal lead to negative mental health outcomes among teachers. In this narrative literature review, we examine new con

Ebola Virus Training: A Needs Assessment and Gap Analysis.

In response to the 2014 Ebola virus disease outbreak, the Worker Training Program embarked on an assessment of existing training for those at risk for exposure to the virus. Searches of the recent peer-reviewed literature were conducted for descriptions of relevant training. Federal guidance issued during 2015 was also reviewed. Four stakeholder meetings were conducted with representatives from health care, academia, private industry, and public health to discuss issues associated with ongoing training. Our results revealed few articles about training that provided sufficient detail to serve a

Implementation of Obesity Interventions in Primary Health Care: Protocol for a Scoping Review of Barriers and Enablers.

BACKGROUND: Obesity is a major public health challenge worldwide, driving chronic disease and health care costs. Primary health care (PHC) is a key setting for prevention, early identification, and management of obesity, yet implementation of evidence-based interventions remains limited. Identifying the barriers and enablers that influence adoption of obesity care in PHC is critical to strengthen delivery. OBJECTIVE: This scoping review will systematically map and synthesize barriers and enablers to implementing obesity interventions in PHC, considering behavioral, nutritional, pharmacologica

Feasibility of paying people who use drugs cash to distribute naloxone within their networks.

INTRODUCTION: Immediate access to naloxone is needed to prevent fatal opioid-related overdoses in the presence of fentanyl analogs saturating the opioid supply. Peer models engage impacted populations who are not accessing naloxone through standard venues, yet compensating peers who utilize syringe service programs with cash stipends to distribute naloxone within networks of people who use drugs is not well described. METHODS: As part of the HEALing Communities Study, syringe service program-based interventions were developed in Holyoke and Gloucester, MA, which paid people who use drugs ("pe

Examining Sexual Health Organizational Networks in Urban African American Communities Using Social Network Theory.

PURPOSE: Collaboration among organizations offering sexual health and youth development services has the potential to provide youth with effective sexual health support. However, formally structured efforts (eg, coalition formation) may be impractical or unsuitable for low-income communities where resources are often already limited. Social network theories provide an alternative approach for building collaborative organizational networks. APPROACH: Research aims to evaluate the barriers and facilitators to collaboration in sexual health organizational networks. SETTING: Organizations in low

A combined qualitative-quantitative fuzzy method for urban flood resilience assessment in Karaj City, Iran.

This study aims to analyze flood resilience (FR) in Karaj City, Iran, using a new fuzzy method which combines several qualitative and quantitative indices. The qualitative part was estimated by a questionnaire consisting of 42 questions distributed into five indices (social-cultural, economic, infrastructural-physical, organizational-institutional, and hydraulic). A fuzzy method was used for analyzing the results. To quantify the hydraulic index, a 25-year flood was simulated in the Storm Water Management Model and the flooding volume at every grid was estimated. The idea was that the flooding
