We report a case of a giant iris cyst treated with neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet laser cystotomy. A 33-year-old woman presented with nanophthalmos and ocular hypertension secondary to a giant iris cyst after congenital cataract surgery in the left eye. Examination with a rotating Scheimpflug camera and anterior-segment optical coherence tomography revealed a large iris cyst surrounding the pupillary region. Thirty-eight neodymium yttrium aluminium garnet (Nd-YAG) laser sessions have been performed in 26 patients under local anaesthesia. The majority of patients had recurrences of inoperable non-small-cell lung cancer after radiotherapy. As an alternative to hysterectomy in patients with excessive bleeding, the endometrium was destroyed by means of the neodymium-YAG laser. The photovaporization was done under direct vision through a hysteroscope. Twenty-two patients have been treated, all but one successfully, i.e., little or no menstrual flow. Our research presents a cost-effective navigation system for electric wheelchairs that utilizes the tongue as a human-machine interface (HMI) for disabled individuals. The user controls the movement of the wheelchair by wearing a small neodymium magnet on their tongue, which is held in place by a suction pad. Seventeen patients with bladder neck obstruction due to benign prostatic hypertrophy have been treated with the Neodymium: YAG laser. We review our experience since the first patient was treated in September 1990.
