Poliomyelitis dynamics with fractional order derivatives and deep neural networks.

This paper presents a comprehensive study of poliomyelitis transmission dynamics using two fractional-order models that incorporate the Atangana--Baleanu derivatives in the Caputo sense (ABC). The model includes critical epidemiological features, including vaccination and a post-paralytic population class. By utilizing the Mittag-Leffler kernel, the fractional framework captures memory and hereditary properties in disease progression. The existence and uniqueness of the model's solution are established using fixed-point theory. To assess the model's robustness, Ulam-Hyers stability analysis is

Transformer-based deep learning architectures have achieved notable success across various medical image analysis tasks, driven by the global modeling capabilities of the self-attention mechanism. However, Transformer-based methods exhibit significant computational complexity and a large number of parameters, rendering them challenging to apply effectively in practical medical scenarios. Compared with Transformers, large-kernel Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Multi-Layer Perceptrons (MLPs) offer more efficient inference while retaining global contextual awareness. Therefore, we rethin

Deep optimization-guided hybrid neural network for accurate detection and segmentation of white matter hyperintensities in clinical MRI images.

White matter hyperintensities (WMHs) are common radiological findings in brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and are strongly associated with neurological disorders such as stroke, dementia, and multiple sclerosis. Accurate detection and segmentation of WMHs are crucial for early diagnosis, disease progression analysis, and treatment planning. However, manual delineation of WMHs is labour-intensive, time-consuming, and prone to inter-observer variability, which limits its practicality in large-scale clinical and research settings. Deep learning has shown promise in automating WMH analysis;

fNIRS-STCT: A Novel Hybrid Spatial and Temporal CNN and Transformer Network for fNIRS Signal Classification.

Functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) is a non-invasive brain imaging method that detects neural activity by monitoring blood oxygen levels and circulation changes in the brain. Some current fNIRS classification models are simply adapted from deep learning models such as Transformer and fail to effectively leverage both temporal and spatial information from fNIRS. In this paper, we develop a hybrid deep learning model for fNIRS classification, fusing spatial convolutional neural network (CNN), a temporal CNN, and Transformer, named as fNIRS-STCT. Primarily, the architecture employs dua

A dual path graph neural network framework for dementia diagnosis.

Dementia typically results from damage to neural pathways and the consequent degeneration of neuronal connections. Graph neural networks (GNNs) have been widely employed to model complex brain networks. However, leveraging the complementary temporal, spatial, and spectral features for diagnosing neurocognitive disorders remains challenging. To address this issue, we propose a Bi-path Multi-scale Graph Neural Network (Bi-MCGNN), which integrates two paths : one focusing on time and spatial relationships, and the other on spatial and frequency patterns. By unifying these pathways, Bi-MCGNN integ

Convolutional neural networks-based early Parkinson's disease classification using cycling data from a steerable indoor bicycle.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder that leads to a decline in functions that are directly related to quality of life, and it is vital to detect PD in the early stages. Currently, the diagnosis of PD relies on comprehensive assessment of medical history and clinical examination. However, it is difficult to capture short-term variations in the patient's disability level during medical visitations, especially in its early stage. In this study we explore the feasibility of PD detection using a CNN model and a bicycle mounted on a specially designed bicycle platform. The bicyc
