Primary peritoneal carcinoma (PPC) was first described in 1959 by Swerdlow. It is a rare malignant tumor of the peritoneal cavity. BACKGROUND: The most common sites of malignant mesothelioma are the pleura and peritoneum, but little is known about the incidence, prognosis, or treatment of patients with disease in both cavities.
