Ruxolitinib (Rux), a JAK1/2 inhibitor, has been approved for patients with myelofibrosis and in polycythemia vera with inadequate response/intolerance to hydroxycarbamide. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to verify the association between human leukocyte antigens and the bcr-abl fusion protein resulting from t(9;22)(q34;q11) in chronic leukemia myeloid and acute lymphoblastic leukemia patients.
METHODS: Forty-seven bcr-abl positive individuals were evaluated. Typing was performed bymicrolymphocytotoxicity and molecular biological methods (human leukocyte antigens Class I and Class II). A control group was obtained from the data of potential bone marrow donors registered in the Brazilian Bone Marrow Donor Registry (REDOME).

We describe a BCR/ABL rearrangement positive but Philadelphia chromosome negative status in a 9-year-old boy suffering from an acute myelogenous leukaemia (AML). This case was detected in a prospective PCR screening procedure including 21 children with newly diagnosed AML and 150 children with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL). We found a 5.4% incidence of BCR/ABL rearrangement positive cases in pre-B and c-ALL in childhood.

BACKGROUND: Urban exposure to volatile organic compounds (VOCs) is associated with several adverse health outcomes, including cancers and respiratory outcomes. We conducted a year-long VOC monitoring campaign in South Philadelphia to evaluate the impacts of traffic and redevelopment of a former oil refinery site on local air quality.
