The aim of this study was to demonstrate the altered metabolic infrastructure of pregnant women with methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) polymorphisms at first trimester and during delivery. Eight singleton pregnant women with MTHFR polymorphisms were compared with 10 normal pregnant women. Maternal blood samples were obtained twice during their pregnancy period (between the 11th and 14th gestational weeks and during delivery). Metabolomic analysis was performed using GC-MS. In this study, cellulose was chemically modified through the addition of the phosphorylating agent, metaphosphoric acid in order to obtain a new material (MPCel) with higher adsorptive properties than the starting material. The effects of MRX-III, a new amino acid solution for renal failure, on survival, progression of renal insufficiency, metabolism of calcium and phosphorous, and nutritional status were studied in rats with chronic renal failure induced by 7/8 renal ablation. These rats were injected intraperitoneally with MRX-III, an essential amino acid solution for renal failure (Amiyu; Sol. A) or a general amino acid solution (Moripron-F; Sol. M) for 12 weeks under the condition of a 3.5% protein diet, and these effects were compared with those in control rats infused with Sol. M under a 22% protein diet.1)

Phosphate deficiency is characteristic for many natural habitats, resulting in different physiological responses in plants and bacteria including the replacement of phospholipids by glycolipids and other phosphorous-free lipids. The plant pathogenic bacterium Agrobacterium tumefaciens, which is free of glycolipids under full nutrition, harbors an open reading frame (ORF) coding for a processive glycosyltransferase (named as Pgt). This glycosyltransferase was previously shown to synthesize glucosylgalactosyldiacylglycerol (GGD) and digalactosyldiacylglycerol (DGD) after heterologous expression.

Workers aged 30-39 years engaged in the instrument-making industry were followed up during spring season. Their energy expenditure, actual nutrition and providing with vitamins were studied. The data obtained were correlated with the level of their total physical working capacity (TPWC). A significant imbalance in their rations was revealed with respect to the main food substances, trace elements and vitamins.
