BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Competency-based education (CBE) is an emerging topic within physical therapy (PT). It has emerged to assure all stakeholders that physical therapist education program graduates are proficient in the requisite knowledge, skills, and behaviors (KSBs) essential for entry-level practice. Competencies have existed within cardiovascular and pulmonary (CVP) PT since 1980, updated in 2008, and most recently updated in 2022. This article discusses how individuals should apply the 2022 CVP competencies to clinical practice and education.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this paper is to outline research which aimed to explore psychotherapists' experience of working with despair, in the UK prison setting, through a qualitative phenomenological approach. Within the forensic psychological literature, despair is considered a pathology, associated with suicide and self-harm, resulting from the prisoners histories and the coercive prison setting. In turn, therapeutic writings outline the importance of therapy in the prison setting with despair in providing coping skills, containment and learning opportunities for the prisoners involved.

Social workers operating under emergency conditions may feel overwhelmed and incapacitated by their own stress reactions. During the Gulf War, social work faculty in Israel acted as consultants to help hospital social workers manage stress and regain professional efficacy. The Stress Management Consultation (SMC) was a short-term group intervention designed to enable social workers to work through their stress reactions and to model a method the workers could use with their own target populations. Qualitative feedback from both participants and administrators indicated that the SMC model was e

Impostor Phenomenon (IP) is characterised by feelings of perceived inadequacy despite evidence of competence. Health professional students frequently experience IP, which can affect their wellbeing, learning and professional development. Previous literature has predominantly viewed IP as an individual-level construct with largely negative impacts and has made limited use of theory to explain IP. Using self-discrepancy theory as a lens, this study views IP as a contextually situated experience of emotional discomfort, rather than a fixed individual trait. This study aims to develop a theoretica

Chronic pain is a leading cause of disability worldwide and remains a challenge for healthcare systems, medical education, and public health. Although advances in pain neuroscience and interventional therapies have improved pain management, biomedical approaches alone are insufficient to address the multidimensional nature of persistent pain or promote adaptive recovery, participation, and long-term functioning. Contemporary pain medicine therefore requires educational models integrating health promotion, resilience, relationship-centered care, and sustainable professional practice. To develop

Artificial intelligence is rapidly entering clinical practice, yet many physicians-especially those in solo or small-group settings-lack the guidance and evaluation resources needed to use these tools safely. Because state medical boards regulate physicians rather than AI developers, clinicians remain fully accountable when AI‑assisted care contributes to patient harm. This article outlines the risks posed by opaque algorithms, hallucinated outputs, omissions, and inequitable model performance, while emphasizing that AI should augment-not replace-clinical judgment. Drawing on recent research a

BACKGROUND: The rapid expansion of available pharmacotherapies and increasingly complex medication regimens has increased the risk of medication-related complications in clinical practice. Concerns have been raised that physicians' pharmaceutical competencies may not fully meet the demands for safe and rational medication use. Existing assessments of physicians' pharmaceutical competency have largely focused on theoretical pharmacology, with limited multidimensional evaluations incorporating medication monitoring, guidance, and interprofessional collaboration.
AIM: This study aimed to compreh

Endoscopy training requires technical skill, sound judgment, and professional behavior. The see one, do one, teach one model has limitations for safety and learning opportunities. The aim of the study is to review educational theories that strengthen endoscopy training and translate them into practical strategies. The authors examined learning, cognitive load theory, and motor skill acquisition, applying them to education practices. Approaches such as simulation-based learning, deliberate practice, and mastery learning were considered for skill development and assessment. Educational theory gu

BACKGROUND: Pain is a universal human experience and a persistent challenge for health services. Its assessment and management require evidence-based competencies to ensure safe, person-centered care. In most health systems, patients with pain are cared for by both nursing professionals and nursing assistants depending on staff allocation, with assistants performing some delegated interventions. Previous studies have identified knowledge gaps among nursing personnel that may affect the quality of care.
PURPOSE: compare the level of knowledge between nursing professionals and nursing assistant

BACKGROUND: Competence is defined as the ability to perform a task with desirable outcomes. Globally, an estimated 530,000 women and 2 million newborns die each year, because of no access to competent health professionals. But half of those deaths can be prevented with competent health professionals. However, the existing literature shows that most new graduates have a lack of competence in the clinical environment, none of them have assessed whether student or preceptor factors have an association with clinical competence or not. So, this study is crucial to fill data scarcity.

BACKGROUND: The number of patients requiring end-of-life care in acute care hospitals in Kenya continues to increase due to increases in non-communicable diseases. Despite advances in the field of palliative care (PC), its utilization is deficient in our setting, particularly at the end of life. Many patients and family members have unmet needs during the end-of-life phase. The aim of this study was to identify and validate end-of-life nursing competencies required by non-specialized nurses in Kenya. Validation of competencies for end-of-life care would help to develop relevant professional de

Neonatal seizures are high-risk clinical events that require rapid recognition but present subtle symptoms. Although simulation-based education supports clinical competence, the use of escape-room-based approaches in neonatal nursing education remains underexplored. The aim of the study was to explore the experiences of nursing students regarding escape room-based simulation for managing neonatal seizure scenarios. This descriptive qualitative study involved 8 undergraduate nursing students engaged in a 5-stage escape-room simulation using a high-fidelity neonatal simulator (Super Tory S2220,
