BACKGROUND: Radiation therapy (RT) effects on breast volume may affect breast-conserving therapy (BCT) outcomes, but quantitative information is lacking regarding the extent and timing of volume loss. This study aimed to quantify volume loss by assessing changes in irradiated breasts.

The Monte Carlo package PCXMC was used to determine the effect of source to image distance (SID) on effective dose to the patient in diagnostic radiology.
