Periapical Bone Healing of a Large Radicular Cyst Following Surgical Endodontic Treatment Without Regenerative Procedures: A 2.5-Year Follow-Up Case Report.

This case report highlights the conservative management of a large peri-apical lesion involving multiple teeth of the maxilla where the lesion eroded the maxilla's palatal, buccal, and nasal plates with a mobile central incisor. Affected teeth were splinted and treated with root canal treatment, followed by a surgical approach to remove the cystic lining and retrograde filling with MTA. No regenerative graft or scaffold was placed on the bony defect, and the patient was followed regularly. Over two and a half years, the cystic lesion showed positive signs of healing with new bone formation, th

Surgical Management of a Large Radicular Cyst in a Maxillary Incisor Following Failed Regenerative Endodontics and Apical Plug in an Adolescent: A Case Report.

This case report describes the surgical treatment of a large radicular cyst in a maxillary incisor of an adolescent, following an unsuccessful regenerative endodontic procedure (REP) and an apical plug. It highlights minimally invasive, age-appropriate decision-making. A 14-year-old boy presented with an acute abscess (pain, swelling, and fever) in the right maxilla. Tooth #11 was nonvital, with apical resorption, an open apex, and a huge radiolucent lesion involving Tooth #12, confirmed by CBCT. Initial treatment included incision/drainage, calcium hydroxide dressing, and antibiotics, which r…

Radicular cyst arising from a traumatized primary incisor: a case report of a rare complication that emphasizes the need for regular follow up.

Radicular cysts associated with the deciduous dentition are rare. The literature is sparse regarding cysts associated with primary incisor teeth, which is surprising given the frequency with which these teeth are traumatized. Most cases reported involve molar teeth associated with apical infection following on from caries. A case of a 3-year-old boy who developed a large radicular cyst associated with a previously traumatized upper primary incisor is reported.

Immense potential for self-healing with conservative management of a large radicular cyst associated with pulpectomized primary tooth: A 40-month follow-up.

Radicular cysts are one of the most common cysts of inflammatory origin involving the maxillofacial region that arise from the remnants of Herwig's epithelial root sheath. These are often diagnosed as incidental findings on radiographs, which are seldom symptomatic and are slowly progressive. Decompression could be used as a conservative treatment approach for the management of large radicular cysts in children to have satisfactory healing and minimum damage to adjacent vital structures, simultaneously allowing the eruption of succedaneous tooth. This paper discusses the management of a large …

Case report: endodontic and surgical treatment of an upper central incisor with external root resorption and radicular cyst following a traumatic tooth avulsion.

In the age group between 6 and 12 years, trauma to the upper incisors happens frequently. In the case of avulsion, a replantation is the state-of-the-art treatment; however, it may lead to several complications, particularly if suitable posttraumatic management is not carried out. External cervical resorptions as well as apical granuloma and cysts due to microbial contamination of the root canal are common complications. In the presented trauma case, a conservative approach was chosen to treat a large cystic lesion combined with cervical and apical resorptions. After initial placement of Leder

Co-detection of antimicrobial resistance and virulence-associated determinants in Staphylococcus aureus isolated from radicular cysts in a post-disaster region of Türkiye.

BACKGROUND: Radicular cysts are among the most common chronic odontogenic lesions, yet the molecular mechanisms of resistance and virulence of their microbial flora remain incompletely defined. Following the 2023 earthquakes in Hatay, Türkiye, medical facilities were severely disrupted, creating a post-disaster clinical setting. This cross-sectional, isolate-based study descriptively evaluated antimicrobial resistance phenotypes and selected virulence-associated genes among S. aureus isolates recovered from radicular cyst infections in this setting. METHODS: A total of 225 clinical S. aureus …

Dentin-normalized Cone-beam Computed Tomography Radiomics within a Periapical Lesion Differential Diagnosis System for Differentiating Granulomas and Radicular Cysts.

INTRODUCTION: Periapical granulomas and radicular cysts cannot be reliably differentiated by clinical examination or conventional radiography. Histopathologic examination remains the gold standard for definitive diagnosis. Because biopsy is invasive, cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT)-based radiomics approaches have been explored as noninvasive alternatives. However, their performance is affected by the intensity variability inherent to CBCT imaging. The purpose of this study was to evaluate a dentin-based intensity normalization approach to improve the robustness of radiomics-based classifi…

Management of a Radicular Cyst in Anterior Maxilla With Endosurgical Intervention Along With Use of Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA) and Bone Graft: A Case Report.

Radicular cysts are the most common cystic lesions that affect the jaws, which, though mostly asymptomatic, can be seen radiographically as an oval or pear-shaped unilocular radiolucency in the periapical region. Nonsurgical root canal procedures and periapical surgery followed by placement of bone substitute and bioceramic root-end filling material is generally the treatment of choice. This case report highlights the endosurgical management of long-standing trauma that led to a radicular cyst with respect to three maxillary anterior teeth in a young adult. The clinical and radiographic examin…

Management of true lateral infected radicular cyst as well as associated mucosal fenestration that occurred postoperatively through an interdisciplinary approach: A rare case report.

A radicular cyst (RC) is one of the types of inflammatory cyst of odontogenic origin. It is usually associated with nonvital teeth and is mostly observed in males. It is routinely treated by nonsurgical endodontic therapy; however, if the cystic lesion does not respond to endodontic therapy, then surgical intervention with or without regeneration is the treatment of choice, depending upon the size, location of lesion, the bone integrity of the cystic lesion wall, proximity to vital structures and residual bone defect elicit after enucleation, etc., We hereby present successful interdisciplinar…
