The symptoms of Silver-Russel syndrome are described using two cases. Special attention was paid to the development of the teeth and the jaws. The typical microretrognathism is accompanied by a frontal crowding especially in the lower jaw. It is possible to adjust it to a regular occlusion using functional orthopedic appliances. Noticeable is the high degree of caries in the first dentition. Paramorphiae are not ascertainable. Etiologically, the submucosal cleft palate, which was diagnosed for the first time, would suggest an intrauterine disturbance in the eighth to the tenth week of pregnanc

On the basis of 35 maxillary osteotomies of the Le Fort I and III types, the authors discuss the main problems connected with treatment of maxillary hypoplasia and midfacial retrusion. Special attention is paid to cases that demand coordinated treatment including skeletal as well as soft tissue repair and reconstruction. Thanks to combined treatment in all cases, including 7 patients with partial backward displacement of the osteotomized fragments whose occlusion could not be entirely corrected, striking or highly satisfactory improvement of appearance was achieved.

Intellectual developmental disorder with dysmorphic facies and ptosis (IDDDFP) (MIM#617333) is an autosomal dominant disorder characterized by delayed psychomotor development, intellectual disability (ID), and dysmorphic facial features due to pathogenic variations in the Bromodomain- and PHD Finger-Containing Protein (BRPF1) (MIM#602410) gene. Herein, we report the first Turkish patients with IDDDFP. Additionally, the patients had hematopoietic disorders such as anemia and thrombocytopenia, which have not been previously described in IDDDFP patients. Genetic testing using Whole Exome Sequenci

Interstitial deletion of chromosome 11 long arm is a rare event. In most of the interstitial deletions on the long arm of chromosome 11 both the position and the size of these deletions are heterogeneous making a precise karyotype-phenotype correlation. In only a few of the reported cases has the deletion been molecularly characterized. Our patient was a 13-year-old male presented; mental motor retardation, strabismus, myopia, retinopathy, sensorineural hearing loss, a long and triangular face, a broad forehead, hypotelorism, nasal septal deviation, a beaked nose, hypoplastic ala nasie, bilate

BACKGROUND: Ipomoea carnea (I. carnea) is a poisonous plant found in Brazil and other tropical countries that often poison livestock. The plant contains the alkaloids calystegines and mainly swainsonine, which inhibit cellular enzymes and cause systematic cell death. The objective of this study was to evaluate the perinatal effects of I. carnea in goats.
METHODS: Forty-seven pregnant goats were randomly allocated into 5 treatment groups and given the following doses (g/kg BW) of I. carnea: 0 (IC0), 1.0 (IC1), 3.0 (IC3), 5.0 (IC5) and 7.5 (IC7). The treatment animals were given fresh I. carnea

Pycnodysostosis (PYCD) is a rare osteosclerotic disorder with distinct craniofacial features. Diagnosis remains challenging due to overlap with other skeletal dysplasias. The aim of this systematic review was to identify clinical, radiological, and cephalometric maxillofacial features in PYCD and to evaluate their diagnostic relevance. Following PRISMA and AMSTAR guidelines, a search was conducted in Pubmed, Web of Science and Cochrane Library databases. Studies were included if they reported characteristics of the cranial vault, face, or oral cavity. Of the 345 publications identified, 46 stu
