OBJECTIVE: To review the literature on contextual factors (CoFas) and their relationship to work outcomes in individuals with ankylosing spondylitis (AS).
METHODS: Articles that quantified the relationship between CoFas and employment status, sick leave, or presenteeism in individuals with AS were systematically identified. We assessed the use of coping strategies in Parkinson's disease patients with visual hallucinations, using a semi-structured questionnaire. We found that 36 of our 46 Parkinson's disease subjects with hallucinations (78%) used coping strategies: cognitive techniques in 69%; interactive techniques in 62%; and visual techniques in 33%.

Liaison psychiatry in pediatric surgery is described and the experiences at the University Children's Hospital in Zurich are reported. The patients seen by the child psychiatrist in surgery are specified and compared with those seen in pediatrics. For the most part the same psychiatric diagnoses were made in both groups with some differences in frequency. It is concluded that liaison psychiatry should be implemented in pediatric surgery, as has long been the case in pediatrics.
