Molecularly designed star-shaped PLA-based polymers with enhanced piezoelectricity for ultrasound-driven wound healing.

Poly(lactic acid) (PLA)-based piezoelectric materials are considered promising candidates for smart wound dressings. However, the low crystallinity of PLA limits the ordered arrangement of dipoles, resulting in insufficient piezoelectric output for effective electrical stimulation therapy. In this work, star-shaped poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(L-lactic acid) (sPEG-PLLA) copolymers are synthesized and electrospun into nanofiber membranes. The star-shaped structure can serve as a nucleation site, enabling sPEG-PLLA with a molecular weight of 25k (sPEG-PLLA-25k) to form α-crystals with higher cryst

Sequential Stimuli-Response System of Eu-MOF Isomers.

Multiple stimuli-responsive materials hold excellent potential for the next generation smart materials owing to their unique response to external stimuli, providing a powerful impetus for the development of intelligent optical devices. The stimuli-responsive behavior of common multiple stimuli-responsive materials are independent of each other, causing the lack of multiplicity and identification for information technology, which is easy to decode. Herein, QIPA-Eu-1 and QIPA-Eu-2 isomers were prepared from QIPA and EuCl3·6H2O in different solvent thermal conditions for building sequential stimu…

Fabrication of functional polyethersulfone (PES)-based materials for blood purification.

Polyethersulfone (PES)-based materials have been increasingly applied in the area of blood purification because of their outstanding thermal, oxidative, and physical/chemical stability, excellent mechanical properties, mild sterilization conditions, and ease of processing. In addition, PES can easily form highly porous structures within the bulk by phase inversion between aqueous solutions and organic solvents. This pore-forming characteristic contributes to the application of PES-based materials for effective adsorption and separation in hemodialysis (HD), hemoperfusion (HP) and extracorporea

In situ synthesis of a zeolitic imidazolate framework coating on a Mg surface for pH-sensitive drug release.

Mg alloys have become a new generation of biodegradable medical materials due to their good biocompatibility. However, their rapid corrosion rate in physiological environments and the mismatch between their degradation rate and tissue reconstruction pose challenges for clinical applications. To improve the corrosion resistance and biocompatibility of Mg alloys, drug-loaded corrosion resistant coating has gradually become a research hotspot. In this work, a uniform pH-responsive ZIF-14 coating was in situ synthesized on the surface of Mg alloy via a solvothermal method. Using rapamycin, an anti

Smart-responsive electrospun scaffolds (SRES) for neural repair: Recent advances and future prospects.

Neurological injuries trigger complex, multi-stage pathological cascades, while traditional clinical interventions such as drug therapy and surgical decompression can only alleviate symptoms rather than reconstruct damaged neural circuits. Conventional repair approaches face multiple limitations, including the inherently weak regenerative ability of central nervous neurons, glial scar formation post-injury, shortage of autologous nerve grafts, donor site secondary trauma and tissue size mismatch, which urgently demand novel regenerative therapeutic strategies. Tissue-engineered artificial nerv
