Co-designing interventions with multiple stakeholders to address barriers and promote equitable access to HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) in Black women in England.

BACKGROUND: Black women are among the populations most underserved by HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in England, despite higher risk of HIV acquisition. Previous research mostly focused on men who have sex with men (MSM), often neglecting Black women, and overfocused on patient-level barriers while overlooking provider and system-level factors. This study addresses these gaps by investigating barriers and facilitators to PrEP access by involving multiple stakeholders and exploring co-design strategies to tackle these barriers. METHODS: The study used a structured two-phased qualitative a

Harmonisation of Outcome Parameters and Evaluation (HOPE) for actinic keratosis: protocol for the development of a core outcome set.

BACKGROUND: Actinic keratoses (AK) are common skin lesions that can progress to invasive squamous cell carcinoma of the skin. A variety of lesion- or field-targeted treatment options exist and their efficacy has been demonstrated in numerous randomised controlled trials (RCTs). However, the reported endpoints are highly heterogeneous, making it difficult to assess and compare distinct treatment options and to reach an evidence-based choice of therapy. METHODS: A systematic literature search will be conducted to analyse which endpoints are reported in RCTs. The focus will be on effectiveness,

An Evidence-Based, Community-Engaged Approach to Develop an Interactive Deliberation Tool for Pediatric Neuromuscular Trials.

Duchenne/Becker muscular dystrophy (DBMD) and spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) are rare neuromuscular disorders that present challenges to therapeutic and clinical trial decision making. We developed an interactive, evidence-based online tool designed to encourage thoughtful deliberation of the pros and cons of trial participation and to inform meaningful discussions with healthcare providers. Prior research demonstrates the importance of tool availability at the time each family is considering trial participation, which may be prior to the informed consent process. The tool is intended to be eas

Identifying the social and environmental determinants of plague endemicity in Peru: insights from a case study in Ascope, La Libertad.

BACKGROUND: Plague remains a public health problem in specific areas located in Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador and Peru. Its prevention and control encompasses adequate clinical management and timely laboratory diagnosis. However, understanding communities' interaction with its surrounding ecosystem as well as the differences between community members and institutional stakeholders regarding the root causes of plague might contribute to understand its endemicity. We aim at bridging the traditionally separate biological and social sciences by elucidating communities' risk perception and identifying k

From emergency relief to system strengthening: Stakeholder perspectives on official development assistance for reproductive, maternal, neonatal and child health in Guinea-Bissau.

Guinea-Bissau, a politically fragile West African nation, relies heavily on official development assistance (ODA) to sustain reproductive, maternal, neonatal and child health (RMNCH) services. This study explored how national and international stakeholders perceive the role, evolution and effectiveness of RMNCH-related ODA and how these perspectives compare with donor strategies. We conducted semi-structured interviews with 10 key informants and applied an AI-assisted, systematically validated framework to analyse 50 donor documents, integrating findings through comparative coding and converge

Surveillance via wastewater monitoring and nasal self-collection of specimens (The SWANSS Study): a CFIR-informed qualitative study with key carceral and healthcare stakeholders.

BACKGROUND: Implementing public health interventions can be challenging in carceral settings. Jails are institutions with the shortest lengths of stay, resulting in frequent turnover and constantly shifting populations. Jails had particularly acute challenges during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic when incarcerated persons were highly susceptible to infection and severe disease. The purpose of this study was to identify barriers and facilitators to wastewater-based surveillance (WBS) and nasal self-testing (NST) as a combined strategy of COVID-19 surveillance in Fulton County Jail (F

The utility of a new point-of-care test for synthetic cannabinoids: a mixed-methods study in people who use synthetic cannabinoids and stakeholders.

BACKGROUND: Synthetic cannabinoids (SCs) are prevalent in prisons and among people who experience homelessness in the UK and can cause serious harms to people who use them. While it is currently not possible to test for SCs at the point of care (POC), a new method for doing so using fluorescence spectral fingerprinting has recently been developed. In this study, we aimed to outline the potential utility of POC SC testing in settings where SCs and SC use occur. METHODS: This is a mixed-methods study. Adolescent mental, sexual, and reproductive health in Ghana: a stakeholder analysis of actors' influence over policy formulation and implementation.

One in five adolescents (aged 10-19 years) live in sub-Saharan Africa. Despite the availability of policies targeted at this age group, policy formulation, implementation, and gains in adolescent health continue to be underwhelming. Stakeholders or actors are architects of policy, bringing their ideological values, interests, power, and positions to policy formulation and implementation and thus influencing the policy process. We analysed multilevel stakeholder interests, positions, power, and their influence on adolescent mental, sexual, and reproductive health policy formulation and implemen
