BACKGROUND: Laparoscopic lateral suspension (LLS) is a novel technique for repairing anterior and apical pelvic organ prolapse (POP). However, the efficacy is limited for advanced apical defects, particularly when combined with posterior compartment prolapse. This preliminary study evaluated the short-term outcomes of mesh-based LLS combined with uterosacral ligament suspension (USLS) for treating advanced apical prolapse with involvement of both the anterior and posterior compartments.

In the present study we show that phospholipases A2 isolated from porcine pancreas (PP-PLA2) and Crotalus durissus terrificus snake venom (S … ipases A2 produced no changes on cell ATP levels. We conclude that the treatment of proximal tubule suspensions with porcine or crotalic phospholipases disturbed membrane integrity as well as mitochondrial function. Specific early NEFA-mediated mitochondrial effects of the phospholipases used in the present study are indicated by the benefit provided by dBSA.

BACKGROUND: It has previously been reported that 40 micrograms per mL of aminomethyltrimethylpsoralen (AMT) plus 2.4 to 7.2 J per cm2 of ultraviolet A (UVA) light inactivated 4 to 6 log10 of several model viruses in platelet suspensions.
