Computerized microscopes improve repeatability, throughput, antisepsis, data analysis and data sharing in the biological laboratory, but these machines are cost-prohibitive in most academic environments. This is a barrier into collecting the large and consistent datasets required for machine learning analyses of microscopy data. We demonstrate hardware modifications and software to bring the features of modern computerized microscopes to decades-old legacy laboratory inverted microscopes. We demonstrate automation of X-Y positioning, focus stacking, image acquisition and image storage.

COVID-19 causes persistent symptoms such as weakness and myasthenia in most patients. Due to the cross-infection of COVID-19, the traditional face-to-face rehabilitation services are risky for the elderly. To ensure that the elderly in urgent need of rehabilitation services receive training while minimizing the disturbance of the COVID-19 pandemic on their social activities. We have improved the existing virtual upper limb training system, and added a social factor to the system. Seniors with upper limb rehabilitation needs can use the system to compete or collaborate with others for training.

BACKGROUND: The Huntington's Disease Integrated Staging System (HD-ISS) has four stages that characterize disease progression. Classification is based on CAG length as a marker of Huntington's disease (Stage 0), striatum atrophy as a biomarker of pathogenesis (Stage 1), motor or cognitive deficits as HD signs and symptoms (Stage 2), and functional decline (Stage 3). One issue for implementation is the possibility that not all variables are measured in every study, and another issue is that the stages are broad and may benefit from progression subgrouping.
