Covid-19 and influenza vaccine hesitancy insights from France, Italy and Hungary: A mixed-methods study.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic entered its endemic phase, France, Italy, and Hungary, as well as many other European countries, have observed a rise in vaccine hesitancy. This study employs a mixed-methods approach to understand the reasons behind this trend by linking statistical observations with in-depth view of vaccine hesitancy. A total of 3,021 adults were surveyed from France, Italy, and Hungary via nationally representative surveys, examining views toward these vaccines. We employed both pooled and un-pooled linear regression analyses. In each country, 20 semi-structured interviews were c

Breaking barriers in health surveillance: privacy-preserving techniques for tracking vaccine hesitancy and disease outbreaks in Pakistan.

BACKGROUND: Precise measurement of sensitive public health outcomes is often limited by underreporting, stigma, and social desirability bias. These challenges can affect estimates of COVID-19 infection and vaccine hesitancy, leading to incomplete evidence for surveillance and public health decision-making. This study examined the use of privacy-preserving stratified randomized response models (SRRMs) to improve the estimation of sensitive health information in a population-based setting. METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional quantitative survey in Punjab, Pakistan, during June-August 2021.

Understanding Vaccine Hesitancy in Louisiana Through Social Media Listening and Community Feedback: Cross-Sectional Study.

BACKGROUND: The rise of social media has significantly impacted public health programs, with platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, X (formerly known as Twitter), Instagram, and, more recently, TikTok being used to promote health information, raise awareness about disease outbreaks, and support disease prevention programs. However, the diverse and often unverified nature of the content on social media can make it challenging to discern accurate information, contributing to user uncertainty, which may in turn contribute to low vaccination rates in some regions. This is especially true in Louisian

Comparative synthesis of sociocultural and political influences (SPIs) on COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy: an interdisciplinary systematic review.

BACKGROUND: COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy has been shaped by diverse sociocultural and political influences (SPIs), rendering it a multifaceted and context-specific issue. Various studies spanning different academic domains have endeavoured to dissect these diverse SPIs, revealing that the impact of a particular influencer can vary significantly depending on the context and disciplinary interpretation. However, prevailing review literature has predominantly focused on enumerating influential factors without providing in-depth contextual backgrounds or disciplinary interpretations. Additionally, a

Preparing for future pandemics: A qualitative exploration of social media in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccine hesitancy.

Vaccine hesitancy remains a significant barrier to the success of global vaccination campaigns and vaccine programs. Understanding people's perceptions of vaccines on social media during disease outbreaks can aid in reducing socially induced vaccine hesitancy and improve program implementation. Social media is an increasingly valuable tool for assessing public perceptions on critical issues, including vaccine adoption. This study examines perceptions surrounding the COVID-19 vaccine among Twitter users in the United States, Brazil, and India within a few weeks post-vaccine release. These count

Understanding COVID-19 vaccine uptake during pregnancy: 'Hesitance', knowledge, and evidence-based decision-making.

BACKGROUND: A key mitigation strategy to the COVID-19 pandemic has been the development and roll-out of vaccines. However, pregnant and lactating people were not included in initial vaccine trials and this population is hesitant to receive the vaccine, despite contrary recommendations from the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Understanding the reasons behind this hesitancy is vital to promote vaccine uptake. METHODS: We surveyed pregnant people in California from December 2020 to January 2021 (n = 387) to describe cognitions and
