PURPOSE: Anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) by a swept source can visualize the ciliary body. The study was performed for analyzing the feasibility of a new swept-source OCT (Anterion) device for measuring iris ciliary sulcus, ciliary body thickness, and iris thickness.
METHODS: It is a pilot study among 30 normal young participants and hospital employees with their consent. Image-based modeling is a popular approach to perform patient-specific biomechanical simulations. One constraint of this technique is that the shape of soft tissues acquired in-vivo is deformed by the physiological loads. Accurate simulations require determining the existing stress in the tissues or their stress-free configurations. This process is time consuming, which is a limitation to the dissemination of numerical planning solutions to clinical practice. In this study, we propose a method to determine the stress-free configuration of soft tissues using a Gaussian process (GP) regression.

UNLABELLED: Patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) can develop dysfunction of the central nervous system (CNS) and have several neurologic syndromes with heterogeneous pathogenic mechanisms. PURPOSE: We evaluated small intestinal submucosa (SIS) as a substitute for skin in endoscopic urethroplasty performed as treatment for inflammatory and iatrogenic strictures of the male bulbar urethra, and in the early treatment of bulbomembranous urethral injuries associated with recent pelvic fractures. Tissue integration and epithelialization of SIS in endoscopic urethroplasty were assessed, as was the long-term maintenance of urethral patency following this treatment.
