INTRODUCTION: To evaluate the outcomes of ureteral strictures treatment after endoureterotomy using the holmium laser or open/laparoscopic surgery.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: From a database of 1101 patients that underwent semi-rigid holmium laser ureterolithotripsy from 2003 to 2013, we performed a search for patients treated for ureteral stricture. PURPOSE: For ventral buccal mucosa graft onlay during bulbar urethroplasty, spongioplasty with advancement and closure of the corpus spongiosum is ordinarily performed to stabilize the graft. In the pendulous and distal bulbar urethra the spongiosum is often too thin to allow complete graft coverage. We describe the results of what to our knowledge is a novel technique for ventral graft coverage using periurethral vascularized tissue. We compared these results to those of conventional spongioplasty.

OBJECTIVE: To report on a safe endoscopic management technique for the treatment of an anastomotic stricture (AS) in patients with an artificial urinary sphincter (AUS).
METHODS: Five patients with a history of salvage prostatectomy after radiation therapy that developed an AS after AUS placement were treated with a rigid ureteroscope and a Holmium YAG (Ho: YAG) laser to incise the AS. The AUS was opened and deactivated but not decoupled or removed during the procedure. The megalourethra is an uncommon congenital anomally. It is a consecuence of the abnormal development of the corpus spongiosum and, occasionally, also the abnormal development of the corpora cavernosum. It is specially common in association with the Prune-Belly syndrome, and with upper tract abnormalities. We present a bizarre case because of its association with a VACTER syndrome.

30 patients with strictures of the urethra (n = 19) and bladder cervix (n = 11) received combined treatment including surgical endoscopic correction of the stricture with Ho:YAG laser, pre- and postoperative endourethral radiation with low-energy laser, instillations of collagenase and dimexide solution into the urinary tract. The operation was made by Ho:YAG laser (2.09) microns, 4 J, 15 Hz, 300 mc). Persistent response for 10-12 months was achieved in 93.3% of patients.

A total of 401 men who underwent transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) between 1983 and 1986, were prospectively evaluated in 1987, 167 of them were sent a questionnaire about their ability to pass urine 1990. Our results showed that TURP was safe with no immediate mortality. The hospital stay was, however, long (median 7.0 days). It should be possible to shorten the hospital stay of those in the age group 60 and 70 years. After a mean of 6.5 years, 92% of patients were satisfied with their ability to pass urine.
