Proliferative epithelial breast lesions include a wide variety of benign hyperplastic and noninvasive neoplastic lesions, as well as invasive carcinomas. Mammographically these lesions may show microcalcifications, architectural distortions or mass lesions. The task of the pathologist begins with a preoperative diagnosis by means of minimally invasive biopsy. His diagnosis forms the basis for not only the radiological-pathological correlation diagnosis, but also for the management of benign proliferative breast disease lesions, as well as therapeutic decisions in the case of malignant lesions.

BACKGROUND: Auricular/nasal basal cell carcinomas (BCC) often require more surgical procedures than BCCs at other sites.
METHODS: A meta-analysis of incompletely excised BCCs compares those on the ear and nose to other sites. The combination of photodynamic diagnostics (PDD) and fresh-frozen sections is compared to multi-stage excisions; in each case, the tissue margins were histographically controlled.

Topical application of a relatively low concentration of one or more agents to which the patient has previously been sensitized can mobilize cell-mediated immune systems at the site of neoplastic or premalignant lesions. Such treatment has proved to be effective against both primary and metastatic skin lesions. It is also suggested that dermatologic experience may provide a model for other cancer immunotherapies.

PURPOSE: The aim of this population-based cohort study was to determine the risk of second primary cancer in basal cell carcinoma (BCC) patients in Lithuania.
METHODS: This analysis was based on patients diagnosed with BCC in Lithuania between 1998 and 2007 and followed until 2011. Standardized incidence ratios for subsequent cancers as a ratio of observed number of cancer cases in people with previous BCC diagnosis to the expected number of cancer cases in the underlying general population were calculated.

INTRODUCTION: Imiquimod (Aldara) is an immune response modifier approved for the topical treatment of external genital and perianal warts which can mediate regression of several cutaneous malignancies [basal cell carcinoma (BCC), Bowen's disease, actinic keratosis, and metastasis of malignant melanoma].
