Because andrology is relatively undeveloped in France, the dermatologist is often the doctor first consulted for diseases of the nipple in men. All dermatological diseases can in fact occur at this site. There are some specific nipple diseases such as gynaecomastia, congenital abnormalities, hyperplasia, benign tumours and breast cancer. All clinical examinations and laboratory examinations should focus on diagnosis of this type of cancer and its elimination.

Is cytology useful in the diagnostic workup of male breast lesions? A retrospective study over a 16-year period and review of the recent literature.

OBJECTIVE: To determine the value of cytology in the workup of male breast lesions, important for the management in a same-day breast clinic. STUDY DESIGN: A total of 146 fine needle aspirations (FNAs) from the male breast were classified in the categories malignant, suspicious, atypical, benign and inadequate. Cytohistologic correlation was done. RESULTS: Histologic correlation was available in 85 cases. Anabolic-androgenic steroid abuse and psychopathology.

Anabolic steroid abuse is a significant public health problem. There is evidence from both case reports and empirical studies that abuse of these drugs causes significant psychiatric and medical effects. There appears to be a relationship between increased dosages and severity of psychiatric symptomatology. Research is needed on the role of pathologic personality traits in the initiation and maintenance of anabolic steroid abuse.

Pituitary adenoma and bilateral male breast cancer: an unusual association.

An unusual case is presented of bilateral breast cancer in a male patient with a long history of endocrine dysfunction due to a prolactinoma. The role of abnormal endocrine function in the development of male breast cancer is reviewed. The strongest association between aberrant endocrine function and male breast cancer occurs in patients with Klinefelter's syndrome, who have an approximate 3% lifetime risk of developing breast cancer. Prevalence and pathogenesis of impotence in one hundred uremic men.

In a study of dialysis patients 79% of men complained of sexual dysfunction and 61% erectile impotence following uremia and the onset of regular dialysis therapy. Fine-needle aspiration of the breast: diagnoses and pitfalls. A review of 3545 cases.

Fine-needle aspiration is now a recognized diagnostic tool. In the past eight years we have studied 3545 aspirates from the breast, including both cystic and solid masses. All were prepared according to the method of Papanicalaou. The cellular findings are described and discussed. Abnormal cells were found in the aspirates from 90% of the 368 malignancies. Reliable criteria for diagnosis are emphasized and diagnostic pitfalls discussed. Aspiration biopsy was helpful in the management of all patients with breast lesions. The effect of orally administered androgens on sperm motility.

The administration of oral androgens increased sperm motility to normal in 30 (52%) of 58 men whose impaired motility was the only defect in their semen quality. Their ejaculate volume, sperm count, and morphology were not benefited. Suppression was infrequently seen and appeared to be transient. Pregnancies were documented in 15 (26%) of the 58 couples studies. However, communication regarding this matter was made with only 39 of the 58 couples.
