Acceptability of an mHealth App for Monitoring Perinatal and Postpartum Mental Health: Qualitative Study With Women and Providers.

BACKGROUND: Up to 15% of pregnant and postpartum women commonly experience undiagnosed and untreated mental health conditions, such as depression and anxiety, which may result in serious health complications. Mobile health (mHealth) apps related to mental health have been previously used for early diagnosis and intervention but not among pregnant and postpartum women. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to assess the acceptability of using mHealth to monitor and assess perinatal and postpartum depression and anxiety. METHODS: Focus group discussions with pregnant and postpartum women (n=20) and indiv

A Web-Based Patient Empowerment to Medication Adherence Program for Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis: Feasibility Randomized Controlled Trial.

BACKGROUND: Living with a chronic illness such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA) requires medications and therapies, as well as long-term follow-up with multidisciplinary clinical teams. Patient involvement in the shared decision-making process on medication regimens is an important element in promoting medication adherence. Literature review and needs assessment showed the viability of technology-based interventions to equip patients with knowledge about chronic illness and competencies to improve their adherence to medications. Thus, a web-based intervention was developed to empower patients livi

Vascular access specialist teams for device insertion and prevention of failure.

BACKGROUND: Most people admitted to hospitals worldwide require a vascular access device (VAD). Hundreds of millions of VADs are inserted annually in the USA with reports of over a billion peripheral intravenous catheters used annually worldwide. Numerous reports suggest that a team approach for the assessment, insertion, and maintenance of VADs improves clinical outcomes, the patient experience, and healthcare processes. OBJECTIVES: To compare the use of the vascular access specialist team (VAST) for VAD insertion and care to a generalist model approach for hospital or community participants

Latent profiles of teaching self-efficacy and clinical teaching behaviors among clinical nurse preceptors and factors associated with profile membership: a cross-sectional study.

BACKGROUND: Clinical nurse preceptors play a central role in supporting nursing students and newly employed nurses during clinical practice. Teaching self-efficacy may be related to preceptors' clinical teaching behaviors, yet little is known about how these psychological beliefs and observable behaviors co-occur within level-based profiles. This study aimed to identify latent profiles of teaching self-efficacy and clinical teaching behaviors among clinical nurse preceptors and examine factors associated with profile membership. METHODS: A cross-sectional survey was conducted from February to

A comparative analysis of dental education in China and Japan based on the four-component instructional design (4C/ID) model.

BACKGROUND: Balancing cognitive load and clinical psychomotor skills within a limited curriculum time remains a core challenge in dental education. Faced with new healthcare demands driven by an aging population, dental education systems in both China and Japan require essential reforms. While current cross-national comparative studies mainly focus on macro-policy levels, introducing an objective educational model helps systematically analyze the core logical differences in micro-level pedagogical implementation and cognitive load management strategies. This study aims to examine differences i

Influencing factors of nursing discipline construction in a Chinese tertiary hospital: a qualitative study.

BACKGROUND: As a first-level discipline, nursing plays an increasingly important role in China's healthcare system, and its sustainable development has become a key focus of current nursing research. The existing research on nursing discipline development is mostly quantitative analysis and lacks depth, failing to fully explore the experiences of nursing managers in practice and the influencing factors. This study adopted a descriptive phenomenological qualitative research design to explore the obstacles and promoting factors in nursing discipline construction and used Herzberg's Two-Factor Th

The impact of animations to improve health-information recall in patients with lower back pain: a quasi-experimental study.

PURPOSE: Globally, low back pain (LBP) is the leading cause of years lived with disability. Clear communication between patients and health professionals is essential to improve health outcomes, lower the costs of health services, and plays a central role in avoiding fragmented LBP care. Commonly, patient information is provided verbally or in written text, which may require high health literacy. Research suggests animations can increase information acquisition in patients with low health literacy. This study was conducted to investigate the impact of animations in improving health information

Effectiveness of Early Physiotherapy Interventions with Guided Parental Involvement on Motor Development in Preterm Infants: A Systematic Review.

Background/Objectives: Preterm birth is associated with increased risk of motor delay and broader neurodevelopmental vulnerability. Existing reviews have examined neonatal therapy, family-centered care, or early developmental intervention broadly, but the independent evidence for physiotherapy-based interventions in which parents actively deliver or support motor or sensorimotor activities remains uncertain. This review evaluated the effects of early physiotherapy with structured, guided parental involvement on motor development in preterm infants and examined intervention content, parental bu

Knowledge-practice gap in leishmaniasis among medical students in an endemic region: a multi-university cross-sectional study.

Leishmaniasis remains a major neglected tropical disease in endemic regions, where early recognition, reporting, and management are essential for effective control. Medical students represent a critical link between clinical practice and public health surveillance. However, gaps in knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP), particularly the translation of knowledge into actionable behavior, remain underexplored. A multi-university cross-sectional study was conducted among medical students in Palestine using a structured, self-administered online questionnaire. Data were collected between Janua

beta Testing a Medical Symptom Management

Analysis of Psychiatric Symptoms and Suicide Risk Among Younger Adults in China by Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation.

IMPORTANCE: Younger adults in China who are transgender and gender nonconforming (TGNC) and lesbian, gay, and bisexual (LGB) experience high levels of minority stress (eg, stigma and bullying) and adverse mental health symptoms. However, there is a lack of research documenting mental health disparities compared with their cisgender and heterosexual peers. Studies that disaggregate TGNC and LGB individuals and are conducted in nonmetropolitan regions are also needed. OBJECTIVES: To examine whether younger adult students' psychiatric symptoms and suicide risk vary by sexual orientation and gend

Health literacy interventions in adult speech and language therapy: A scoping review.

BACKGROUND: Reduced health literacy can negatively impact care seeking, satisfaction with care and overall health outcomes. These issues are particularly common among people living with communication difficulties who are seeking care from speech and language therapists (SLTs). As such, the SLT must be aware of and sensitive to health literacy needs within their clinical practice, proactively adapting materials and resources to the health literacy needs of their patients. Despite this required core competency, little is known about the health literacy interventions used by SLTs when working wit
