Moments That Matter: Exploring Autistic Adolescents' and Their Families' Joy Through Family Journals.

Joy is an underexplored dimension in autism research, particularly within family life. This qualitative study examined how autistic adolescents and young adults (AYAs) and their families experience and co-create joy. Using a phenomenological design and reflexive thematic analysis, we analyzed 2-week family joy journals from six families (17 participants: six AYAs, two siblings, and nine caregivers). Journal entries revealed joy as a relational process embedded in everyday routines, creative engagement, and shared experiences. Three overarching themes emerged: Experiences of Everyday Joy (senso

Applicable Scenarios, Desired Features, and Risks of AI Psychotherapists in Depression Treatment From the Patient's Perspective: Exploratory Qualitative Study.

BACKGROUND: Depression is a pervasive global mental health issue, yet access to trained professionals remains severely limited. With the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI), digital tools are increasingly seen as a viable way to address this shortage. However, questions remain about how digital platforms for mental health care can be effectively designed. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to investigate, from an end user's (patient's) perspective, the potential use scenarios, desired features, and perceived risks of AI psychotherapists in depression treatment, providing design guideli

Publicly Accessible Large Language Model Responses to Frequently Asked Questions About Spondylodiscitis: Preliminary Expert Evaluation.

BACKGROUND: Patients increasingly use large language models (LLMs) to obtain medical information, but the quality of LLM-generated information on complex spinal infections such as spondylodiscitis remains uncertain. Existing evaluations in spine surgery have mainly addressed degenerative conditions or surgical procedures, and disease-specific data for spondylodiscitis are limited. OBJECTIVE: This preliminary study evaluated spine surgeons' ratings of single-turn LLM responses to 10 author-curated frequently asked questions (FAQs) about spondylodiscitis and compared answer sets generated from

Effect of a Short, Animated Storytelling Video on Transphobia Among US Parents: Randomized Controlled Trial.

BACKGROUND: Parents play a pivotal role in supporting transgender and gender diverse (TGD) youth. Yet only 35% of TGD youth describe their home as a gender-affirming place. Lack of parental support contributes to recent findings that TGD youth are approximately three times more likely to attempt suicide than their cisgender peers. In contrast, parents' affirmation of their children's gender identity significantly improves their mental health outcomes, by reducing anxiety, depression, and suicidality. OBJECTIVE: Addressing the urgent need for effective, scalable interventions, this study evalu

New Perspective on Digital Well-Being by Distinguishing Digital Competency From Dependency: Network Approach.

BACKGROUND: In the digital age, there is an emerging area of research focusing on digital well-being (DWB), yet conceptual frameworks of this novel construct are lacking. The current conceptualization either approaches the concept as the absence of digital ill-being, running the risk of pathologizing individual digital use, or follows the general subjective well-being framework, failing to highlight the complex digital nature at play. OBJECTIVE: This preregistered study aimed to address this gap by using a network analysis, which examined the strength of the relationships among affective (dig

Healthcare workers experiences in providing comprehensive abortion care to adolescents in the Eastern region of Ghana: A qualitative study : 1School of public Health, university of Ghana - Legon, Accra, Ghana.

INTRODUCTION: Globally, less safe or least safe abortion among adolescents remains a public health concern. In Ghana, complications from less safe and least safe abortions result in approximately 43,000 facility-based post-abortion care cases annually, contributing significantly to the overall burden of maternal morbidity and mortality. Healthcare workers play a critical role in delivering comprehensive abortion care (CAC) services to address the challenges of less safe and least safe abortion. At the same, there is scanty literature in Ghana on the experiences of these healthcare workers. Thi

Understanding Digital Dementia and Cognitive Impact in the Current Era of the Internet: A Review.

Dementia encompasses symptoms resulting from brain damage that impairs cognitive functions, surpassing natural aging effects. This condition affects emotional regulation, behavior, and motivation while preserving consciousness. Dr. Manfred Spitzer coined the term 'digital dementia,' highlighting the cognitive decline associated with excessive reliance on digital devices such as smartphones and Google, potentially exacerbating attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and memory loss. This condition mirrors terms like 'digital amnesia' and 'the Google Effect,' highlighting the brain's ten

Performance evaluation of large language models in real-world perinatal medication consultations: a cross-sectional study.

INTRODUCTION: Perinatal medication consultation is a core clinical pharmacy service that involves a complex benefit-risk assessment for both maternal and fetal safety. Large language models (LLMs) have emerged as potential tools to improve access to medication information, yet their performance and safety in real-world, pharmacist-led perinatal consultation settings, particularly in non-English contexts, remain insufficiently evaluated. AIM: To evaluate and compare the performance of multiple advanced large language models in addressing real-world Chinese perinatal medication consultation que

Evaluation of an Artificial Intelligence Conversational Chatbot to Enhance HIV Preexposure Prophylaxis Uptake: Development and Usability Internal Testing.

BACKGROUND: The HIV epidemic in the United States disproportionately impacts gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (MSM). Despite the effectiveness of HIV preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in preventing HIV acquisition, uptake among MSM remains suboptimal. Motivational interviewing (MI) has demonstrated efficacy at increasing PrEP uptake among MSM but is resource-intensive, limiting scalability. The use of artificial intelligence, particularly large language models with conversational agents (ie, "chatbots") such as ChatGPT, may offer a scalable approach to delivering MI-based counse

[Psychotherapy prognostic factors for personality disorders (PD) treatment: The role of self-reported questionnaires].

Objectives Dropout rates in psychotherapy are known to be high in patients with personality disorders (PD; ranging from 25% and 64% for Borderline PD). Faced with this observation, the Treatment Attrition-Retention Scale for Personality Disorders (TARS-PD; Gamache et coll., 2017) was developed to precisely identify patients with PD at high risk of abandoning therapy based on 15 criteria, regrouped in 5 factors: Pathological Narcissism, Antisocial/Psychopathy, Secondary Gain, Low Motivation, and Cluster A Features. However, we have limited knowledge about the relevance of self-reported question

Adolescent substance use disorders and comorbidity.

It is imperative to know what risk factors are more likely to appear during specific developmental stages so that identification and interventions can be used to decrease the risk for future SUD. Continued surveying of risk factors that can occur at any stage in childhood are important to ensure that other risk factors are anticipated and intervened upon as well. Multiple risk factors increase the magnitude of the risk for SUD, and therefore all risk factors should be detected to convert these to protective factors. Screening instruments that can assess risk factors found to increase the risk

Cooperation with school nurses described by Finnish sixth graders.

This paper deals with research on cooperation with the school nurse described by sixth graders. The data were collected via six focus group interviews in 2003-2004. Twenty-two sixth graders (aged 11-12 years) participated in the research. The data were analysed by the constant comparison method based on grounded theory. The analysis yielded a number of concepts that describe the basis of the cooperation: the trusted expertise of the school nurse, informative interaction with the family and knowing the family situation. The cooperation consisted of supporting the pupil's growth and development,
